Some disinfectant in the market is suitable for the sanitization of water filtration reverse osmosis membranes and their associated distribution systems. But some disinfectants may not totally eliminate all vegetative microorgansims in the reverse osmosis RO membranes and their associated piping systems due to their construction and assembly, but can relied upon to reduce the number ofmicroorgansims to acceptable levels when used as directed. the possibility of recontamination by the incoimg water supply may also exist.
The RO manufacturuer should be consulted prior to the use of the disinfectant. It is necesary to determine the temperature and PH range accepatble for that particular membranes. Because of the variations in materials of construction at different facilities, some systems may have components of pumps, gasket, etc that are not compatible with long term exposure to this disinfectant solutions. This disinfectant solutions may be corrosive to copper, brass, iron, and certain other metals.
Because of the individuality of the RO water system in design and constructions, as well as the quality of raw water, all RO systems do not contain the same components. Dependent on the system, all or portions of the following procedure may be for sanitizing.
1. Biological or organic fouling of the membrane or other parts of the system should be removed with the appropriate cleaner. It is important to follow the membrane manufaturer's recommendation cleaning procedure. After cleanig, flsuh the sytem with RO permeate.
2. Mineral deposits should be removed with acidic cleaner prior to snaitization of the membrane. Again follow the membrane manufacturer's recommendation cleaning procedure. Then flush the unit with RO permeate. The presence of iron or other metals, in conjuction with hydrogen peroxide could cause membrane degration.
3. Prepare the disinfection according to the supplier's recommendations. Fill the entire water circuit to be sanitize with the diluted disinfectant and allow the diluted solution to reach a minimum temperature of 20degree. Need to be careful not to exceed the membrane recommended temperature.
4. Recirculate the system.
5. Rinse the RO system and check for residual chemical by following directions on the PH test strips. Rinse time will vary depending on the size of RO system.
Proper sanitizing our water RO filters ensure safe water for drinking.
Kitchenaid Refrigerator Water Filters
Spending money on bottled water can be a nuisance to your pocket - in other words expensive. Even getting an empty two-litre bottle can be a hassle to fill up, especially when you go to the nearest water cooler in your office and notice that your colleagues are giving you a look of evil for taking most of the water. Your only means of defence is that you need the fluid to stay hydrated - just like the rest of the staffs in the office.
In such cases, it may be a good idea to invest in water filters. If like me, you are not too keen on drinking tap water straight but have no problem with using filters then this maybe a better option for you rather than constantly having to buy refills. This in turn will save you money on expensive mineral water and give you the chance to drink from the tap without consuming all of the chemicals needed to treat tap water.
The effects of chlorine is minimal to the health, however, some experts have encountered that after a long time of consuming the water this could eventually have some affect on the individuals health. However, currently there are more water filters available for people to install in the own homes through their tap water systems. These come in various functions and can either be installed professionally or by yourself.
The most obvious water filters can be bought individually and are portable so you can take it in with you to work. Other people prefer to keep a water filter jug in the fridge, which is a good way of measuring how much you drink in a day. The filter itself is made from micro filters in a cartridge that is kept at the top half of the pitcher, it takes a short while to filter through at the bottom and each cartridge can last up to a month at a time.
Other types of filters, which can be fitted into the tap water systems, are reverse osmosis water filter, charcoal filters, ultraviolet disinfectant, a distiller, water softener and ceramic water filters. Each of these vary in price range and work in very different ways. The idea is to rid the water of any extra pathogens or infectious bacterium that may reside in the water. Some of the products are not designed for ridding the water from chlorine, so if you are looking to have water that is chemical free then you will need to look into what kind of filter will be best suited.
Other filters are much more advanced and are more expensive, cheaper alternative that has a similar resulting affect are better suited for people looking to install them in their homes. Others may prefer to check the Ph level of the water, making sure it is not too acidic and is at a reasonable alkaline level. Generally, tap water is kept alkaline, with acidic fluid use mainly for cleaning purposes.
Tap water will not kill you and is not dangerous, but for the more health conscious people, there are alternatives to spending out on the extra money over bottled mineral water all the time. Making sure that you keep your water intake high is important to your ability to function normally, so you are better off with buying a water filter if you do drink the standard amount or more.
