Leather is obviously not going to be ideal for wearing directly next to the skin so it's uses as a material for lingerie are fairly limited. It is however a great fabric for wearing as outer garments and has retained it's popularity for centuries. Wearing a tight corset for a prolonged period of time is not really a great idea.
