If you are trying to get started in the world of Internet Marketing and you want to make big money through your website, then the best place to start is "LIST BUILDING". Big bucks and a long term sustained income awaits the internet entrepreneur who can learn the skill of list building! There are many ways to build a solid income on the internet, however as many have already discovered. . .if you skip the important foundational pillars of building a sustained internet business, your road to success will be longer, a lot more frustrating, and will often end up in failure. Building a List, is one of the key pillars and is usually the best place to start.



In the case of a website or business that is trying to increase it's revenue, the value of a customer or visitor can be multiplied greatly when the business can add them to their list. A list is a collection of names and contact information. Often this works by placing an opt-in form on a web page where visitors can simply fill in their name and email. However, it is usually not as simple as just posting an opt-in form and hoping people will just willingly give you their contact information. In order for someone to give up their contact information, their needs to be some sort of value gained on their part to give up their information. Ideally, those who have bought from a business in the past, and or have received something of value (i.e. a free report saving them money) will be the type of people who are most likely to buy something from the business again in the future. They are targeted customers. If a list has a bunch of old ladies on it who are only interested in knitting, then home theaters, home theater products, and home theater information is not really going to convert to sales in the future. However, if the list is full of people that have an expressed interest in home theaters, than the odds of them wanting to purchase something or receive information from an expert in the home theater world is highly probable, thus making them a highly focused converting prospect. Furthermore, if something of great value was gained by a person on the list from the list owner, then the odds of them being a customer are also greatly increased.

The most effective tool to getting someone's contact information is called a "squeeze page". An example of a squeeze page is one of my own sites, which is listed in the resource box included with this ariticle. This is not the only place you can go to see a squeeze page, but it will give you a solid idea of what one looks like. By definition a squeeze page is a tool that is used to simply do one thing, to squeeze information out of a person. In our case, a name and email. In fact, a squeeze page only gives you one option, opt-in or leave the site.

There are other ways that can be used, but the ones I have shared above tend to be the most effective and most used methods.
