ABC's Ugly Betty continues to take in guest stars in their second season, and as soon as the writers strike is over, more stars are going to be invited into the highly watched series. The New York Post recently reported that singer/actress Lindsay Lohan will be negotiating with the network when the strike is resolved. Previous reports say that Lohan and her management have not confirmed the news, but now, the tabloid is claiming that Leslie Sloane Zelnik, Lohan's publicist, said that her client is "looking forward" to the project.
"She loves the show," Zelnik confirmed with the New York Daily News. "Lindsay was flattered there was interest in her from the show. They talked character points and she loved [the character]."
Lohan is to play a former high school beauty queen who is forced to work at a fast food joint after experiencing financial problems. The establishment is also where Betty's (America Ferrera) father, Ignacio (Tony Plana) works. As the usual kind hearted Betty, she offers Lohan's character a more fitting job at Mode.
"Everyone's very excited," a show insider told another paper, The New York Observer. "Of course it brings a lot of attention to the show, and it's a great part for Lindsay." Moreover, rumors have circulated that Lohan will be appearing in three episodes of Ugly Betty, despite the deal not being written on paper yet.
As for the Emmy award winning star of the show, America Ferrera has indeed become more confident thanks to Ugly Betty.
"When I walk down a red carpet, I never feel more self-conscious than in my own skin," Ferrera said in a conversation with U.K. 's Mirror magazine. "When I get into Betty's skin, it all goes away."
The 23-year-old actress added that "having a perfect body" isn't the answer to all of life's problems, instead, "being comfortable in your own skin" is even more important.
"The truth is I don't feel like Betty's that ugly," she said. "She's cute and unique. The show is about watching her grow and blossom, and not just on the outside."
