In 1863, rising traffic congestion on roads in town centre London led to the construction of the world's primary metro system, the London Underground.The center was bombed badly amid the 2nd world war and numerous lives were lost. London is influential for its shopping, so you will spot everything from quirky independent stores and markets, to designer stores.One of the city's most celebrated stores is Selfridges, which is on Oxford Street. It was rudimentary opened in 1909 by Harry Selfridge, who wanted to make shopping joy rather than a chore. He succeeded and the store now has four other branches in diverse conurbations all through the UK.

It goes without saying that the nightlife in London is among the most in the world. There are countless clubs, live music venues, exclusive bars, cosy pubs and Michelin starred restaurants to be fond of.The Met drinking house in the metropolitan Hotel is one of the city's greater noble bars. The bar is so exclusive that it is members or hotel guests only after 6pm. The bar is very leading with celebrities, so you could do some terrific star spotting there.

As it is such a monster abode, London is very easy to get to. In fact, it is well connected by rail and vaunts some generous railway stations, including London Bridge, London Victoria, London Euston and Liverpool Street. As well as this, the conurbation also has three major airports, Heathrow; Stanstead and Luton.Driving in London could be tricky due to the congestion charge, but the urban place has a great underground and bus network to help people get around.
