Lower Blood Sugar Natural

    View:
A harsh diabetic diet, losing weight or exercising your brains out.

Doctors readily recommend following a healthy diet, but what does that mean? Doctors also recommend prescription drugs. But every day, we read in the newspaper or hear on TV that something is terribly wrong with the medication being prescribed.

Many people that are pre-diabetic or have a fully developed case of Type 2 diabetes are seeking out natural solutions for the two biggest symptoms of this deadly illness - high blood sugar levels and excess weight.

They don't know what to eat or not eat. And they're afraid that today's prescription will be tomorrow's headline, pronouncing the latest Food and Drug Administration's recall of a diabetic medication that actually causes damage rather than cures.

If you're like most people, you're confused and need some guidance. Here's a list things to do, if you are looking for a more natural solution to restoring your health.

#1 Set Goals For Your Blood Sugar and Weight Levels

For starters, you have to set a target or goal that you want to achieve. Basic blood sugar guidelines suggest you strive for blood sugar levels of 70-130 before meals and under 180 at 1 to 2 hours after meals.

Weight goals vary, depending on height, sex, age and body build. For ideal weight targets ask your doctor or view Body Mass Indices, easily found on various web sites.

#2 Set Daily Calorie Goals

Generally, calorie intake should be measured according to these guidelines:

-For small women, 1,200 to 1,600 daily calories should be targeted. For medium to larger women or small men, suggested caloric intake is 1,600 to 2,000 per day

-For medium to larger men, it's suggested that you target consumption of 2,000 to 2,400 calories daily

#3 Watch What You Eat

To control your blood sugar and weight levels, it's not only important how many calories you consume, but also the type of calories. Find out what not NO Carbohydrates means but what Complex Carbohydrates means-a huge difference.

Kevin Trudeau, in his book series called Natural Cures, has highlighted some of the foods considered to be unhealthy, if not downright toxic for diabetics and non-diabetics alike.

The list includes monosodium glutamate ("dangerous and deadly"), aspartame and Splenda ("makes you fat?hungry and depressed"), hydrogenated oils or trans fats ("deadly?causes heart disease"), sugar ("avoid at all costs"), natural and artificial flavors, spices, artificial colors ("chemical poisons"), enriched wheat and white flour, soy protein isolate ("used to process petroleum") and palm oil.

There are other NY Times best sellers like Live Longer Now, by Dr. Leonard that get at these carbohydrates issues in detail. Free e-book at

But the number one worst food to ingest, if your diabetic is high fructose corn syrup. This product ingredient is found in many foods and beverages, such as soda, ketchup, baked goods - almost everything today includes this on their ingredient list.

The reason it is so toxic for diabetics is that it's an extremely dense sweetener, high in calories. But more importantly, high fructose corn syrup or HFCS has been clinically documented to rob your body of chromium.

Chromium has been found to help regulate blood sugar levels. So the impact of this ingredient is to help make your fat and to raise your blood sugar readings.

While you can't totally eliminate HFCS from your diet, you can make a conscious effort to reduce it. One of the biggest single sources of HFCS is in non-diet sodas. By eliminating them from your diet, or by switching to diet sodas, you'll make a giant step towards controlling blood sugar and weight levels.

#4 Restore Lost Chromium

As we've said, it's almost impossible to eliminate HFCS from your diet, given its prevalence in most foods and beverages today.

To overcome this situation, and restore your chromium levels, it's suggested that you take a safe supplementation form of chromium.

Based on clinical studies and independent tests, the special niacin-bound polynicolinate has been found to be the most effective and safest version of chromium available.

Most nutritionists, familiar with diabetic needs, will recommend that you take this type of supplement to restore bodily balance.

By following these four steps, we believe you can gain control over your blood sugar and weight levels, restoring your body to a healthy state.
Lower Blood Sugar Natural
Avandia, a popularly prescribed blood sugar reducing ethical drug was cited by the Federal Government as being a potentially fatal health risk, subjecting diabetics to heart illnesses, or worse yet, heart attacks.

As if diabetes sufferers didn't have enough problems with potential side effects such as blindness, amputation and cancer, now the remedy most prescribed to lower their blood sugar could cause their hearts to seize up!

Government Takes a Lead

How is this possible? The US Food and Drug Administration, responsible for issuing this alert about Avandia, strongly urged diabetics to seek alternative 'options' for lowering blood sugar levels.

So what did they do? Most diabetics switched to Actos or Metformin, two well-known, respected products, that indeed, did lower blood sugar.

But, while effective at lowering blood sugar, these products also have sided effects. Most specifically of concern to diabetics is that they can cause rapid weight gain.

Early Drivers in the Search For Alternatives

Given that excess weight often causes high blood sugar readings, this is a definite problem.

Kevin Trudeau, an entrepreneur with ties to the supplement industry recognized the shortcomings of the U.S. medical community and wrote a book about it called Natural Cures.

This book (and subsequent sequel), raised issues with what he calls, Big Pharma, Big Government and the rest of the health care industry participants. And, regardless of what your think of this late night TV promoter, he struck a chord with the diabetic community, who was tired of hearing about heavily researched and expensive pharmaceuticals making their health worse.

As a result, we've seen a surge in Type 2 diabetics seeking alternatives not just to Food and Drug Aadministration recalled prescription drugs, but options to the entire synthetic remedy industry.

Now the search for a safer way begins

Natural, herbal, organic, botanical are three words that have entered into the typical diabetic's vocabulary.

The natural remedy industry is not without fault or product shortcomings. But if you look closely enough and scrutinize remedies with legitimate clinical support and testing, diabetics can find products that help..

One such product we know of contains clinically-tested (for efficacy and safety) active ingredients that lower blood sugar levels, reduce weight and have proven to have no known side effects.

This product, containing chromemate form of chromium (helps to regulate blood sugar) and clinical strength citrimax (lowers weight) have been found, in studies at Harvard, Georgetown and Creighton University Medical Centers, to work well in resolving diabetic problems.

An additional benefit of this, and many other natural remedies, is that they cost considerably less than prescribed products.

The above mentioned product sells for about $1.50 per day, compared to the average price of Actos, Metformin and similar ethical drugs (depending on dosage level, source of purchase, etc.), for $3-6.00 per day.

Like any remedy you consider taking, it's strongly recommended that you talk it over first with your doctor.

And, it's always recommended that you include diet and exercise as a part of your regimen. No magic pill exists, natural or prescribed, that can substitute for responsible eating and body movement.

For those of you suffering from Type 2 diabetes, it's wise to consider all of your options, and choose the one that's best for you.
