Folks living in colder areas are more often than not seek outdoor heaters to help them stay and enjoy the outdoor longer. They would often go for outdoor gas heater simply because it is a cheap and safe alternative. However, the world may run out of natural gas as this threatens to increase the price of installation and also the price of this type of heater.
The type of heat this heater produces is radiated heat, not convection. Convection heat is not considered efficient as most of the energy is used to heat the air rather than people.
You can be sure to find the type that suits your need. There are many to choose from; space heaters, wall heaters, wall mounted and they can also be either permanent or portable.
If safety is first thing on your mind, you can go for the wall mounted heater. You can minimize the risk of children or even adults and pets running into them. You also don't get the messy cords that could also be a threat safety. The good news is wall mounted heaters are also a cheaper option.
An advantage is that you never run out of gas, as your source comes from the existing gas lines. No more checking and refilling. But this is also the very reason why your outdoor gas heaters are most likely permanent. Even if they were portable, they are still connected to the gas lines, so portability is actually limited.
Before any installing work is done, plan carefully where you want the heaters to be and ideally, it should be where the heater can work best to warm up the area. You may need to install a few outdoor gas heaters but don't worry as they don't take much of the space.
When you're out scouting, single out heaters that have features such as sealed burners, emergency cut-off valves, electric ignition systems, flame controllers and tilt switches. Also try to look for the ones that are corrosion resistant. For safety features; go for stainless steel fasteners and shut-offs.
The heater should be able to do the job of heating around the radius area of 10-20 feet but this will depend on the model and the type of area. These heaters will do a fine job of combating chillness and raising temperatures up to 10 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit.
Umbrella patio heaters come with a heavy aluminum reflector at the top to direct the heat downwards and outwards. The pole measures between three and seven feet tall.
Installing outdoor heaters means you are providing the choice of the outdoor for your family or guests and besides, staying outdoor without proving proper warmth and heat during cold weather is out of the question. Even if you don't have big plans for your outdoor area, you can still expect visitors of family members who smokes and providing a place for their need will mean a lot to them as well as those who are non smokers, as they will certainly be thankful that they do not need to endure the smoke.
Summer is never long enough for us to enjoy. Missing the summer heat when outdoor? Then the outdoor heater is there for you not to magically transform a chilly august day but rather provide the heat so that you and your loved ones or guests can still enjoy the outdoor. When you really think about it, outdoor heaters will allow you to do more than you can think with your outdoor area. Restricting your party to your living room is such blah! Now, think about the liveliness of your party if you can open the outdoor area for your guests too and even better if it is comfortable heated. There are just so many activities you can do with your love ones outdoor. Even simple things like reading a book or newspaper is more enjoyable outdoor. With outdoor heaters, there is no need to worry about catching a nasty cold just think about all the wonderful things you can plan for your outdoor activities!
Lyrics Keep Yourself Warm
1 Lowering the thermostat will help your bills, but you don't want to get cold. If you want to increase your temperature generally, exercise can make a difference as it gives you a better blood flow to hands and feet. What you perceive as cold also depends on what you are used to. If you heat your home to a higher temperature than your neighbour you are always going to feel colder in their house, even though to them it may seem perfectly warm.
A Canadian study found recently that mood can influence how hot or cold we feel and depression and loneliness make us more aware of the temperature. To stay warm, exercise, be more social and get enough sleep - and a big enough share of the duvet. Here's a few ideas to get you started:
2 That big yeti like jumper you got from Auntie Ethel after a year of knitting may feel cosy, but you would do better with several thin layers, not one thick one.
3 Make the layers of natural fabrics like cotton, or even better silk, as they are good insulators. Think how warm you will feel just knowing you have silk next to your skin, that should heat you up all on its own.
4 Bedsocks and a nightcap may seem like something from an old movie, but keeping your head and feet warm will pay dividends. Invest in a red Santa hat and pretend it's Christmas all year round.
5 Hot food, eaten regularly keeps your system stoked up and make sure you have plenty of carbohydrates as they provide long lasting heat sustenance. There is a reason stews and soups are so popular in winter, it's not just their psychological effect, but the slow breakdown of those potatoes and pulses keep you warmer longer.
6 Check your central heating thermostat and if it's over 21C-24C then try reducing it to that optimum level. Honestly, you will be warm enough and having it higher is a habit you could learn to change.
7 Alcohol and caffeine may seem like a good idea but they both increase blood flow to the skin, so you are actually losing heat. Do have hot drinks but try herbal tea or decaff coffee or what mulled apple juice for a change?
8 Keep moving as even small amounts of exercise will help. Don't have the TV remote next to your chair, get up and walk a little - and make a cup of tea while you are up.
9 Use your mind to make you warmer. If you are somewhere cold where you can't control the temperature - such as your cousin Mona's house who keeps the rooms at fridge temperature to save replacing her elderly icebox - just visualise somewhere hot and you will actually feel warmer. It works equally in reverse, so in summer imagine rubbing your feet on a nice cold ice floe - if there's still one left.
