If you have a website you'll need to let the world know about it. This is called internet marketing. Ever since I committed myself to learning about the ins and outs of online marketing, my sales have dramatically increased. Marketing online is a completely different challenge than offline marketing but it has its benefits. If you want to take your website to a different level, drive more traffic, and increase your sales, you need to consider the benefits of internet marketing.



1.) First of all, with internet marketing, you will dramatically increase your world of potential customers and clients by simply having a web presence. With a contact email or web form, you have also proven to site visitors that you are reachable.

2.) Internet marketing allows you to network with people you would not be able to meet otherwise. Joining newsgroups and networking communities allow opportunities for sales that just would not have been likely to happen offline.

3.) You have complete control of your web image without your potential customers ever needing to see you in person. If you are concerned about maintaining a professional appearance, you won't have to worry about this online. You can slip over to your computer in pajamas, chat with your clients who live clear across the world, and never have to worry about ruining your business profile. How cool is that!

4.) Internet marketing offers a vast variety of ways to add client'le to your business. With all of the many proven marketing techniques available, you are bound to find one or several that fit your desired level, and you can tweak these strategies and implement them any way you see fit. Be sure to create an internet marketing plan in which you may implement several strategies of online marketing such as: article marketing, blogging, podcasting, ezine marketing, press releases, and directory listings, just to name a few.

5.) Last, but not least, marketing online can become very automated, and require less of your time, focus, or energy, depending on the techniques you use. Not only is there software out there that can automate your marketing processes for you, but there are a world of marketing freelancers who are available for outsourcing, and can dramatically help your business. Try using auto-responders for your mailing lists, and never be afraid to outsource your work. There are ghostwriters available for article marketing as well as specialists in other marketing venues such as podcasting and blogging.

Technique 1:

Optimize your website for keywords relevant to your target market. You can learn alot about the right methods to impliment this strategy at various sites, forums and blogs online for free. You can also uncover almost anything you need to learn about search engine optimization or any topic for that matter at your local library.

Technique 2:

Write interesting articles that would be appropriate to your target market and submit them the various article directories. supply useful information that customers will enjoy without trying to force your products on them. At the end of your article include a tagline describing what you do with a link to your site. If you submit a couple of articles a week, before you know it you will have links pointing back to your website all over the internet. Keep your aticles short and to the point, while offering the reader some valuable free information. Generaly around 500 words is standard.

Technique 3:

Submit your site to search engines, directories, specialty listings sites, industrie organizations and yellow pages. This is another way to get noticed and get one way links back to your website and some free customers. Use search engines to find all these places and submit your site.

Technique 4:

Submit ads directing people to your website to all the free classified sites you can manage. You can get some bonus free traffic to your business in this way. You can't just place ads with a few sites and expect wonders in the way of customers though. You need to post to as many sites as possible and on a regular basis.

Technique 5:

Post to forums, blogs and message boards that allow you to post your tagline at the end of each post. You should always try to post something of value though and not just in an attempt to market your site. Be helpful and respectful and this strategy will serve you well.

Technique 6:

Start your own blog. One of the simplest, most effective methods to promote your products or business is with a blog. Update your blog with relevant information on a regular basis using targeted keywords in each post. When your first starting it's best to update once per day or so. This strategy can work wonders to get you listed at the top of the seach engines relatively quickly.

Technique 7:

Write your URL on everything. Place it on all your stationary such as business cards, letterhead and envelopes. Also include your URL at the end of your emails in all your outgoing mail. Find as many ways as possible to get seen by as many people as you can.

Technique 8:

Begin an aggressive linking strategy. Find relevant sites targeting the same market that you are but that are not direct competitors and ask them to link to your site. If you use this method you will need to offer something on your website (products or information) that will be of interest to your possible link partner's site visitors. Reciprocal links are another type of link you should try to get. This is when you link to a website and they in turn link back to yours.

Technique 9:

Write an newsletter and submit it to ezine directories. This strategy is almost like the strategy used for articles. You can use the articles you write in your ezine and vice versa. You can also use appropriate articles from other business owners that you find at the article directories that would be of interest to your ezine readers.

Technique 10:

Use press releases to get the message out about your business. Contact publications and reporters with a direct interest in your business or area of expertise. If you have something interesting or newsworthy to say then this can be an superb strategy.

Technique 11:

Use traffice exchanges. Traffic exchanges are membership sites that you join and in return for visiting other sites you will get visitors to your own website. This strategy take some work but you can get lots of visitors to your site for your work.

Technique 12:

Use joint ventures with people in your area of interest that offer complimentary products and services that your customers would find useful. You promote your partners products or services and in return they promote yours.

Technique 13:

Engage your circle of influence. Some of the best advertising in the world is called word of mouth. It's possible to make alot of money with this strategy by itself. Just ask any successful MLMer. Make a list of all the people you know and then egage these people in some way, whether it be by email, telephone or in person and let them know about what you do. The people that are actualy interested might amaze you.

Technique 14:

Be your business. If you have a good, honest business that your proud of and excited about, then let everyone know about it. Engage anyone you come in contact with, at the local shopping center or your server at your favorite resturaunt. Don't just shout at strangers about how proud you are because that obviously will not work. Engage people in conversation. Ask them what they do or how they like their job. Their natural reaction will be to ask you the same questions in return. Tell them about your business or products and exchange business cards with them or at least give them one of your cards.

Above are just some of the methods that a personbusiness can use to advertise their business for free. Some of thes techniques may not apply to your particular business but this article should help you to get headed in the right direction.
