Marketing To Internet Marketers - Respecting Their Ingenuity

It’s because such a fact should dictate your approach. Deal with them as if they’re mindless drones and you’ll lose a sale quicker than the pop of a bubble. But deal with them with the respect that should be accorded their rank and you will be able to secure loyal customers who will turn to you for their appropriate needs.

There are several do’s and don’ts when selling to an internet marketing crowd. The success or failure of your campaigns will greatly depend on how many of these do’s you actually do, and how many of these don’ts you’ll be able to avoid.



  1. Never be condescending. Never treat them as inferior subjects. Remember, they are your brothers in this field. What you know, they also know. They may even know more than you do. Hence, if you talk in a way that appears to impose what you know, you might just meet some resistance, if not indignation. Your prospects belong to an extraordinary market. They may be your leads right now, but on any given day, you can easily become their customer as well.

  2. Never be patronizing. The opposite of condescension should likewise be avoided. Assenting to their every whims and kissing their feet as they walk will be taken as butt kissing, something that has no room in this industry. They want solutions. They want answers. They want products that will revolutionize the way they do business. They do not want suck ups just to win their sales. Remember, sincerity is the name of the game, and sincerity is never synonymous with patronizing your prospects.

  3. Speak in a language they will understand. They know what you know and they may even know more than you do. There is no need for technical discussions most of the time. Deliver what they need to know straight and fast. If they have questions, encourage them to ask. This will save you a lot of time. And this will save them a lot of time as well.

  4. Assume what they know without going overboard. It is safe to assume that they will understand what you’re talking about. But you have to exercise further judgment. For example, you are introducing a concept that is totally innovative, then you’d have to set it up with some tidbits from the market research you have made as well as the bare bone specifications of what you’re offering.

  5. Tell them what they need to know without the fluff. Time is gold for online businessmen. If you’ll beat the bush to deliver your pitch, they’ll get offended. They’d immediately lose their patience, and they won’t stay long enough to read your main pitch. Since it is almost a given that they know a lot about the industry, deliver your pitch straight and quick. No need to dillydally. No need to introduce matters that are totally irrelevant to what you’re offering. They know you’re selling something. There is no use pretending otherwise. Give them what they need to know from the get go.



Selling to an internet marketing crowd is a tough gig. But much of your success will be determined by how well you will approach them. Follow the guidelines above and you can rest assured that you’ll gain better results from your campaigns.
