Maslows Hierarchy Of Needs

    View:
Online marketing requires more than search engine optimization and waiting for the money to come in. Something very important to understand is why do people buy things, and Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs triangle is the perfect way to being to understand this. Advertisers in the media have understood for a long time the power of messages that really get to the heart of people's emotional needs. That is what makes people run out and buy. These advertisers take advantage of the theory developed by the psychologist Abraham Maslow from the 1960s. This is really important to understand and implement this hierarchy when you're getting ready to use Easy Online Marketing.

Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs is shaped like a triangle, and says that everyone has to satisfy certain emotional and social needs before they can achieve their maximum potential and, in terms of online marketing, it means that people buy certain specific products or want certain types of information because they truly believe that that information is going to help them reach these different needs. So of the five levels in the triangle, the very bottom one is psychological, and the one above that is safety needs. These are the basic human needs. The next three are social needs, esteem needs, and then self-actualization needs. These last three are all needs that go further than the basic human needs that we need to survive.

These top three needs, social, esteem, and self-actualization, allow humans to grow and to achieve their maximum potential. People can find web sites on all kinds of subjects that can help with these three needs. Let's take the bottom, most basic need, the psychological need. This covers water, sleep, air, shelter, and health. An examples of online marketing that could fulfill this need is looking for homes or apartments on realtor.com, buying clothes from nordstrom.com, looking for health and nutrition advice from mothernature.com, or looking for a local dentist. Some web sites that would fulfill the safety needs include security items such as locksmiths for your home, emergency notification services, or car alarms from a web site.

The social needs category is about our human need for caring and belonging to a community and the web is the perfect place for fulfilling this kind of need. Especially with the social marketing revolution that is happening right now. An example of this is Facebook. This site fulfills people's needs for connection and feeling social. As we become a little more distant in real society, we want to connect more because we still have the social need.

The next one is the esteem need, and this is about people's need for self respect and self esteem and respect from other people. This one can turn into a little bit of an ego need because you can buy fine wine from a web site or jewelry from cartier.com, or Louis Vuitton leather goods. You can also buy an expensive car online! These items will all give people status, prestige, and a sense of power that is fulfilling that esteem need.

The last one, the very top need on Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs triangle, is self-actualization, which is about a sense of creative self-fulfillment and spiritual pursuits such as the law of attraction. There are a lot of web sites giving information and teaching about this, such as the web site I began with, Our Law of Attraction Podcast. This self-actualization can also be met in sites about artists, musicians, and different religious pursuits.

So to increase your online conversion, it's a good idea to keep Maslow's hierarchy of needs in mind as you think about ways to fulfill these human needs.
