Video poker seems to have a following of its own who would choose not to gamble if they couldn't do it playing their favorite version of video poker. Years ago I was playing a video poker machine and was winning a little bit so I upped my credit values to a five dollar per credit machine and of course played maximum bet (as you should almost always do when playing video poker because the difference in jackpot payouts is considerable) and I was dealt a ten, jack, queen king and eight of clubs. The payout for a flush on a five dollar per credit machine with max credits bet was very considerable. I was very tempted to hold all five cards and keep the money which I feel again bears noting was considerable. Instead I begrudgingly held all but the eight and as I hit the deal button I fully expected to see my flush disappear and with it my nice chunk of money. I was instead rewarded with an ace of clubs for a royal flush jackpot.

I have since then hit two more royal flush jackpots but none at that level of credit value. I played for years and years before ever seeing my first one and then saw three in about two years time. So they do happen for those still waiting their first time.
