Any medical practice knows that the records it keeps are vital to the success of management. Whether it is billing information, such as names and addresses, patient records, or appointment information, all of this information needs to be kept in a very safe and secure place. It all must be ready and easy to find quickly. If you are thinking that all this information could be stored on a computer and that would be the best place for it, you're right. Unfortunately, many medical practices aren't up to date and still are using the age old process of pen and paper to keep track of all their medical records. It's not that there aren't many providers of physician practice management software, it's just that the healthcare industry as a whole as been very slow in implementing it into the industry. Maybe one day the software will become so common that ?we won't ever know how we survived without it.?



It sure would be awesome if I was able to receive money each time I heard that. It's a very true saying however, and that's why it is so common. Our lives are always becoming more simplified and less stressful. Wait a second, that last thing I just said can't be true. Even if our lives have become more simplified, they absolutely have not become less stressful. Lets think about this:

Just because technology simplifies one of life's tasks, it doesn't mean life gets easier and less hectic. We seem to take that little extra time we get and use it on other "stuff," thus making our lives just as hectic as before. However, if that other "stuff" as I called it earlier, is more fulfilling for us and has more of a purpose in our lives then it is definitely worth it. We become happier, and so does the "stuff" we dedicate our time to. In this case I'm talking about any medical practice.

Any practice has tons of information that it must hold on file and trying to save it in a secure location and pinpointing it later on is not easy. Patient addresses and billing records must be kept on record and filed so that they are painless to retrieve when needed. How many times have you called your local practice looking for information on your medical record and got sick of the annoying song playing over your speaker phone? It is for this reason that the health care industry ought to make a big push on transferring their practice management paperwork and medical records over from a paper format to the digital and electronic world

It really would be beneficial for any medical practice to start using emr software and medical billing software. Unfortunately, not much has been done or is being done in that respect, especially when comparing it to, say, the banking industry. Much as been done in that industry to implement electronic records.

Now, going back to spending more time with your "stuff" example, imagine how much happier the patients and employees would be if the employees got to spend more time interacting and helping patients instead of taking time to store their records.

A medical practice would benefit from a software solution to its management process. There are also software solutions for electronic medical records, such as emr software. The medical staff would be able to dedicate their time to more important things instead of wasting time with mundane tasks. In order to have a successful practice, management is the key. They would be able to dedicate more time to other "stuff," on in this case to their patients. The whole atmosphere can be changed and everyone can be happy as patients are served better and workers spend more time helping people instead of remembering people and their data. Someday, it'd be nice to see every medical practice pushing towards installing practice management software.
