Miami Heat Utah Jazz

    View:
There is no doubt that the great strength of the Heat is that they have two superstar players. Shaquille O'Neal has long been one of the best centers in the league. His numbers since joining Miami have been dwindling, and one of the keys to the Heats success may be how productive Shaq can be. After only playing 59 games and averaging 20 points per game, his lowest mark of his long career, O'Neal has a lot of work to do to prove critics wrong about his apparent decline as an elite player.

The other superstar the Heat boasts is Dwayne Wade. Unlike his big counterpart, Wade is one of the youngest superstars in the league and will look to continue his consistent improvement over his first three years in the league. As long as he is able to stay healthy and can pour in his usual 25-30 points per game and 6-7 assists per game, there is no doubt that the Heat can win the Southeast division for the third straight year.

Of course, no team can win games with only two players. The Heat will therefore look for key contributions from forward Udonis Haslem and role players Jason Williams, Antoine Walker and James Posey. Haslem is a young big man who compliments Shaquille nicely on the defensive end of the floor and brings toughness to the squad. The other three players, all acquired in the 2005 summer, are aging veterans who can score points and shoot the long ball. Another bench player who could have a sizable impact is Alonzo Mourning, who substituted nicely for O'Neal last season. It is important that all five of these players continue to perform as they did last season.

On the sidelines for the Heat is NBA legend Pat Riley for the second straight season. Riley is a top-calibar coach who will expect nothing less than a second championship and will aim to keep his team focused on their new goal.

The Miami Heat have championship rings and all of their key players and coaches back for the 2006/07 season. But they will also have a bull's-eye on their backs for the entire season and they will really have to play their best basketball to return to the Finals for the second straight season.
Miami Heat Utah Jazz
If you think it's getting hot in here, it's probably from the sizzle of those Miami Heat tickets. The Heat has been setting the courts on fire for a while and is currently one of the top teams to watch. A number of top NBA players have played for the Heat and the team has made some spectacular plays during its career.

The Miami Heat is based in Miami, Florida and plays its home games from the American Airlines Arena. The Heat plays for the National Basketball Association and is also a part of the Eastern Conference and the Southeast Division. So far the team has won seven division titles, one conference title and one championship win.

Hot In Miami

In the eighties, the NBA decided to add a number of expansion units and in 1987; Miami and Orlando were literally at each other's heels, vying for the franchise bid. The Miami Heat was born the following year, with Orlando getting its own franchise in 1989. The Heat started out with a great coach and assistant coach. And that was it. The team itself was made up of players who were either too young and inexperienced or were journeymen. It wasn't surprising that fans who had purchased Miami Heat tickets, found themselves witness to the team setting an NBA record for losing its first 17 games.

Added to this was the fact that the Heat was for some reason placed in the Midwest division, resulting in long road trips for the team. As if that wasn't enough, the team was also bogged down with injuries. The Heat also made a number of draft picks, which simply did not deliver on the court.

The Nineties and a New Beginning

It wouldn't be until the nineties that the Heat would really start to improve. This was mainly due to the addition of a number of high-caliber players like, Shaquille O'Neal and Alonzo Mourning. Sales of Miami Heat tickets picked up, since a number of fans just wanted to see these legendary names play. The team continued to improve and soon had kindled a rivalry with the New York Knicks. The rivalry between the two teams was perhaps best seen in an altercation that actually had the Knicks coach clutching Mourning's leg in an attempt to stop a fight. By the time the new millennium rolled around, the heat was definitely on fire, pulling in almost consecutive division title wins. In 2006, the Heat won the NBA championships and basketball lovers were clamoring for Miami Heat tickets. Though the team was geared to pull off another big win in 2007, the team slipped into poor playing, mainly due to some of their star players being bogged down with injuries and personal tragedies.

Despite their poor performance, the Heat is looking to put in some better performances in the new season. With a number of exciting new drafts, the Heat looks ready to set the courts on fire once again. If you are looking forward to some hot basketball action, you can't go wrong with the Miami Heat.
