Mil Std 810 F

ThisMIL-STD-129P standard is used for shipping containers carrying military items. Thisnew standard has been mandated by the Department of defense and all otheragencies. Essentially, this standard is used to ensure uniformity while markingmilitary equipment and supplies that are transported through ships. Marking is highlycritical to easy identification of the items that are transported. When aparticular stock falls short of the balance level; the marking enables the militarypersonnel to fill the requisition.

Onthe basis of the requirement standard of MIL-STD-129, containers can be classifiedinto 3 types such as Unit containers, Intermediate containers and Exteriorcontainers. Basic format such as national stock number (NSN), part number, itemdescription, part number are mandatory for all type of containers. Certainsupplementary labels such as serial number barcode, military shipment level(MSL), Direct-vendor delivery level (DVD) are required only for Exteriorcontainers

On19th September 2007, changes have been made to the old MIL-STD-129P (3) and thenew standard is known as MIL-STD-129P (4). For exterior containers this newchange standard set two barcodes along with the earlier ones. So now ShipmentNumbers (SN) and The Contract Line Item (CLIN) are mandatory to be bar-codedalong with the NSN, Contract and CAGE.

Thoughcertain changes that are done in the new MIL-STD-129P are in conflict with theearlier MIL-STD-129 standards, every attempt has been made to take care of anyunforeseen situation that may arise.
