A Global Chain reaction starting with Soren Kjeldsen's victory in Europe and ending with Pat Perez's hot finish at ?Bay Hill? destroyed Davis Love III's chances of qualifying for the Master's Tourney by being in the top 50 on the World Ranking at the end of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Love began the week ranked 47th, before missing the cut, but still looked like he would make it based on scenarios involving Hunter Mahan, Stuart Appleby and Aaron Baddeley. Mahan helped out by five-putting the 16th green Sunday. But while those well-known players couldn't pass Love, a group of lesser names did!
Watching from his home on Sea Island, GA, Love knew the situation had been complicated by Kjeldsen's victory in the European Tour's Andalucia Open, and Prayed Marksaeng's second-place finish in the Black Mountain Masters, an Asian Tour event in Bangkok. Marksaeng, who entered the week 50th after a T-13 at the WGC-CA Championship, moved to 47th with a final round 64 in his home country of Thailand.
