Running a business is a big endeavor as there are so many things to think about and take care of and some days it may feel like you will never be able to get everything done. No matter whether your run a business that has thousands of employees or whether you are a one-man business it seems like there is never enough hours in a day.



Why not take some of the stress off of yourself by using promotional items as your marketing strategy. Promotional items can sell your business day in and day out if you plan the selection of them carefully. This article is going to help you think about some things to consider when buying promotional items.

The first thing to think about is - what kind of promotional items you want to use as freebies or a give-away. There are literally hundreds to choose from such as: T-shirts, caps, torches, canvas bags, mugs, pens, mouse mats, key rings, umbrellas, coaster, clock just to mention a few. This list could really go on and on and on. Kind of like the ever ready bunny.

When making the selection of promotional items, it is a good idea to pick items that can be easily associated with your business or company. For instance, if your business is a house cleaning service, you may want to think about buying a calendar that has special house cleaning tips written all over it. If your business is a health equipment business using a pedometer as a promotion item is a good fit.

Many of the items listed (T-shirt, ball cap, key ring etc.) above though are appropriate no matter the line of business you are in because they are items people like and use. This means they are functional and functionality is the key criterion for selecting a good promotional item. People love getting something for free but if it is something they don't have a need for, or do not know what it is, they will not feel excited and use the freebie.

You want people to wear and use your promotional items because that is where the FREE marketing comes in. Whenever someone wears a T-shirt that has your name and logo printed on it, they are marketing your business. You know what is really cool is how many businesses or companies actually have customers buy their T-shirts and when they wear them they kind of get a double bang for the buck. They made money on the T-shirt and that T-shirt is marketing them every time it is worn.

Another thing to keep in mind when selecting promotional items is quality. Many people tend to equate the quality of the promotional items they receive from you with the quality of your business. If they receive a promotion item, like an umbrella, that doesn't open easily or turns inside out every time the wind blows, they will not be satisfied with you or your business. So, the moral of this story is to buy the highest quality promotional items your budget will allow.

One last thing to think about is what you are going to have printed on your promotional items. Typically the name of the business and logo are printed on promotional items. Remember to have the logo printed to be larger than the name of the business and that the lettering is a color people can see. If they can't it, it isn't marketing.

You now have ideas about using promotional items. Go out and get going. Give away promotional items.

If you choose to create your eBook using HTML files, all you need to do is give your readers the URL so that they can view it like any other webpage.

Looking to promote your products or services? Consider using an eBook in your promotions. For instance, a caterer might offer books such as "Entertaining for Large Parties at a Small Cost" or "Perfect Wine Pairings" and distribute them to prospective clients. She could also reformat the content into individual articles and submit them to specialized publications. An organizer might select topics such as "How to Set up a Home Office" or "10 Steps to Eliminating Clutter." She could feature these books on her website and create passive income by setting a fee for downloads. Someone opening a coffee shop might market her business with titles such as "How to Brew the Perfect Cup" or a "Guide to Global Coffees."

Want to define yourself as an expert in your field? Use an eBook to share your expertise. A house painter who finds that he's always being asked about painting might write books such as, "10 Things to Know before Hiring a Painter" or "Three Top Painting Techniques." He could market these books on his website, and offer them when meeting with prospective clients. Perhaps each month or quarter he could make a new book available for download or sale. He can market himself as an expert, while creating an additional source of income. Even do-it-yourself painters could benefit from his tips!

Have a group of articles you've already written? Compile your articles into an eBook, with each article as a separate chapter. Use your eBook as a manual for classes or talks that you give. Distribute your eBook as a "textbook" for your online classes. Are you involved in coaching or mentoring? Make your eBook available on your site as a download for your clients or students. Need to create instructions for a product you're selling? Put it into an eBook. Use your eBook as a "thank you" to clients, or as an incentive to prospective clients.

Don't underestimate the power of an eBook. You can use it for marketing, income, building writing credits or establishing yourself as an expert. Whatever your objective, use an eBook to get exposure for your business while sharing your expertise.
