For the bride and groom who want to be married near the grandeur of magnificent trees, waterfalls, rivers, lakes and mountains, a National Park could be the perfect venue. After completing an online application, you will be issued a permit at a cost of $150.00. Weddings may be scheduled up to one year in advance and not less than 3 weeks prior to your wedding.
There may be many restrictions associated with having your wedding at a National Park. The wedding permit does not allow your ceremony to restrict other park visitors from your chosen location. Entrance fees into the park are not waived for guests or wedding participants. In most parks, time allowed for outdoor events is three hours. Wedding permits are not issued for heavy use periods-Memorial Day weekend, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekend. An additional charge of $50.00 per hour may be incurred for an Event Monitor for those outdoor activities of 50 people or more. No amplified music or public address systems are allowed in some parks.
Here are some restrictions specifically for Yosemite National Park, but may apply to other parks as well:
• Weddings are not allowed around the bases of Sequoia trees.
• The release of butterflies is prohibited.
• Birdseed or rice may not be thrown within the park as this provides an unnatural food source for park wildlife.
• The use of balloons or other types of decorations will not be authorized.
• No event or directional signs are allowed.
• Picnic areas may not be reserved and are only available on a first-come basis. The permittee is responsible for the cleanup of the site and all trash. Yosemite National Park Rangers strictly enforce all laws relating to excessive drinking.
• Chairs, tables or other furniture are not allowed at the site of your wedding unless a picnic area is used.
With careful planning and communication with the National Park of your choice, you can celebrate your wedding day surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. These are some of the best the United States has to offer, but there are many more:
Bryce Canyon (Utah) -Area of brilliantly colored eroded rocks
Carlsbad Caverns (New Mexico) -The world's largest known caves
Grand Teton (Wyoming) -Picturesque range of high mountain peaks
Mesa Verde (Colorado) -Best preserved prehistoric cliff dwellings in the United States
Yellowstone (Wyoming, Montana, Idaho) -World's greatest geyser area; abundant canyons, falls, and wildlife
Yosemite (California) -Mountains, gorges and waterfalls, giant sequoias
Zion (Utah) -Multicolored gorge in the heart of Utah desert

The Bush administration recently announced the overturn of a federal rule that severely restricts firearms in national parks. In January, 2009, law abiding citizens who hold a permit for concealed weapons will be able to carry guns in most national parks and wildlife refuges. For the past twenty five years, the rule has been that people could have a firearm at a park, but it had to be unloaded and not easily accessible. This seems kind of far off from the claims of the Second Amendment, because how can you protect yourself from an attacker if you have to go searching through your car trunk to find your gun and a separate box of bullets and then take the time to load the gun? Your attacker is not going to stand and wait while you prepare to defend yourself. Chris W. Cox, the National Rifle Association's chief lobbyist says, "We are pleased that the Interior Department recognizes the right of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families while enjoying America's national parks and wildlife refuges." The new rule will coincide with each individual state's regulations.
Dr. Ignatius Piazza offers at Front Sight Firearms Training Institute a course to help people obtain the permit needed to carry a concealed weapon. This is a One Day 30 State Concealed Weapon Permit Course and follows a two day or a four day handgun training course. The firearms training courses offered at Front Sight are unsurpassed, and that includes the Concealed Weapon Permit Course. Upon completing the course, you will get all of your paperwork signed off and notarized and you will get certified proof of having the required training. It gives you the opportunity to legally carry a concealed firearm in thirty states, and teaches you how to legally obtain a concealed weapons permit in other states, even states that seem like they will never give you the chance.
Front Sight has been around since 1996 and has continuously provided outstanding training to its students. The instructors are trained beyond what is typically expected of firearms instructors. Dr. Piazza, the founder and director of Front Sight, was the second man in the WORLD to obtain a Four Weapons Combat Master Certificate, meaning he is not just "pretty good" or "above average" at handling a firearm. He is not just the best in his state, or the best in the country. Dr. Piazza is an expert - one of the best in the world. The curriculum at Front Sight teaches everything students need to know about firearms, from safety to how to operate them to picking out a gun, and everything in between, teaching students more than most other gun training institutes. The combination of Dr. Piazza, Front Sight's instructors and the curriculum offered makes Front Sight stand out and surpass even military and law enforcement standards of firearms training.
With the new rule coming into action, now is a better time than ever to secure yourself a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Why wait?
