Mother Of The Wedding Dress

    View:
Trashing the dress? Heard of this new concept? There is this new ?tradition? some like to call it where Brides quite literally trash their dresses!! There are the flowers, the people, the places. However, recently one more piece has crept onto this list of Weddings ?To Do's?: What is the bride going to do with her dress after the ceremony? Preserve it, or give it away? Nope? neither! She is going to destroy it!

The past year Wedding Professionals have seen an increase of a cheerfully damaging post-wedding ritual: the trashing of the Wedding dress.

This is a photo shoot in which the bride models her beautiful Wedding gown while romping around in the forest climbing trees or in the mud covered in it all, in the water of an ocean or a lake, climbing up a fire latter's, rolling in the sand or even paint, riding horses or sitting on hay bells.

These sessions take place after the Wedding ceremony is done. The Groom is usually not around, he can be, but most of the time it is for the Bride to ?let go? and release and just become very artistic. In the end, the Bride is a mess but the pictures look fantastically artistic.

Trash of the Wedding dress is defiantly for those ?Rebel Brides.? A Classical Bride probably should not do this if they are very traditional people because although you can have your dress dry-cleaned, sometimes things happen where stains wont come out and something may get ripped in the process of taking the pictures.

There's something both fascinating and distressing about the idea of a bride wrecking her expensive gown. As a culture in America, we are really obsessed with Weddings. I mean have you ever seen the TV show Bridezilla? Hello!! These women are crazy! So in a sense I wonder how people can end up trashing these extremely expensive dresses. And in the same sense, I think its great that this is a new fad because it allows people to just unwind from the pressure of planning a Wedding which is quite similar to therapy!

Dress trashing seems like a potential way out of the loop, a temper tantrum designed at the restraining rules of bridal womanliness making it an unforgettable experience.

I would say to all Brides to do it, even if you're the Classical and Traditional kind of Bride. Just try it. Trashing the dress doesn't always have to be mud and ocean water. It can be sitting on a horse and getting a few horsehairs on your dress. Really, it can be painless. It's all about being creative, and showing off what you love, example like if you like horses. It's about your attitude and how you artistically want to portray it. Every Bride I have done it for just loves the outcome. Because years and years later when they have still never ever seen their dress because they dry-cleaned it and packaged it up, they still know that they got every dime out of that dress, to be beautiful in and to be their self's in. It feels like a freedom of some kind. So do it and let me know how it goes.
Mother Of The Wedding Dress
Many soon-to-be-brides have great difficulty finding the right wedding dress. It seems that there are too many choices and designs to choose from, making it too difficult of a decision to make. The way to tackle this important task is very simple; plan! Just as you plan every other facet of your wedding, you must also plan for your wedding dress.

What's your budget?

Determining your budget is the first factor you need to consider before even looking at any wedding dresses. If you can afford between $4,000 – $5,000 then it would be wise to seek the services of a couture bridal salon. Of course not all dresses in bridal salons are in that price range, but for the most part, their dresses are sold for higher prices.

Research

Go through several wedding/bridal magazines, and tear out the dresses that you prefer. Make a small file and bring it with you when you go shopping. Notice the small details like necklines, sleeves, design lines; fabrics such as laces, brocades, satins and silks; trims such as piping and embroidery. Decide what you like and don't like; what's in your budget and what's not, and then visit the stores that stock the styles you like.

Visit more than one bridal shop

Go to several bridal shops that stock the styles that you like. You may have to make appointments to do this with some couture bridal salons, so be sure to call before hand and schedule an appointment. While you are there, try on several dresses that appeal to you, to help you decide which styles look flattering for your body type; and, be sure to bring someone with you that you trust. Remember, and this is important, that the size 2 model in the magazine will look great in anything, so some styles that you liked in the magazines may not be as flattering in the real world. Don't be afraid to ask tons of questions to the stylist who is assisting you. If it's a couture salon, find out how far in advance you need to place your order, how many fittings will be required, and how payments can be made.

Get a written quote

If you've decided on a design, get a written quote for the dress. Find out exactly what that quote includes. For example, some bridal salons charge extra for fittings and alterations. Be sure to know and understand everything before you place your order, to avoid any surprises.

Salon or custom designed

By now, you should have already decided whether you have found the gown of your dreams in a salon, or need to have it custom designed for you. Increasingly, brides are choosing the option of custom designed, as opposed to buying one from a selection in a salon. Nothing compares to a couture and one of a kind wedding dress made specifically or the bride. But this is a decision you must make for yourself. If you do choose custom designed, the next step is to find the right designer or dressmaker for you. Designers such as Monique Lullhier custom design services begin at $25,000.

Finally, remember that your wedding gown is the most important dress you will ever wear. It is the gown in which you will say “I do” to the man of your dreams. It is the gown in which you will be remembered long after the wedding. You may even see your daughter wearing it on her wedding day. Most of all, you should have a lot of fun shopping for the perfect wedding gown.
