Every year more people are moving to the beautiful state of California. Besides the lure of the ocean and the tropical feeling, there are many things that attract people to California. Obviously, the warm weather is inviting. There are also many tourist attractions in Northern California that are well worth checking out!
California is arguably one of the most beautiful of the 50 United States of America! Northern California is no exception. It is also called ?Nor Cal? (and Southern California is likewise dubbed ?So Cal?). San Francisco Bay and Sacramento (California's capital) are both located in Northern California.
Northern California's climate is quite diverse. There are beautiful sunny beaches on the coast (with climates ranging from marine to Mediterranean) and then there are very cold areas (alpine climate) in the higher altitude mountainous areas.
There are many attractions in Northern California which beckon visitors. For example, the St. George Lighthouse and Battery Point Lighthouse are both beautiful, which are located in Del Norte County.
Also in the same area are the Trees of Mystery which feature huge statues of Paul Bunyan and his blue ox Babe. This attraction features a caf?, gift shop, museum, and Gondola rides. This is most definitely fun for the whole family.
Perhaps one of the most monumental aspects of Nor Cal is the Golden Gate Bridge in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is a beautiful shade of red and looks gorgeous, glowing against the lush California sky.
If you like wildlife, you are in for a serious treat! The Castle Rock National Wildlife Refuge is gorgeous. It has ocean birds, sea lions, seals and lush plant life. This destination is actually on a little island just outside Crescent City.
For the historian in you, check out the Victorian Ferndale in Humboldt County which is a museum featuring Victorian architecture. Here you can also find antiques and pieces of fine art.
One of the best aspects of Northern California is that, aside from San Francisco Bay and Sacramento, the population is light. Therefore, it is a stark contrast to Southern California (So Cal), where there is so much going on that it can be overwhelming! If you're looking to get a taste of the beauty and warmth of the Sunshine State without all the chaos, Northern California will suit you perfectly. It's just quiet enough, but with plenty to do and see!
Don't miss Redwood National Park! National Parks are a great way to see wildlife, hiking trails, beaches, and more. One thing really cool about Redwood National Park is that the movie Jurassic Park: The Lost World was filmed there!
While you're in the nature state of mind, check out the Arcata Marsh and Bird Sanctuary, the Natural Dunes Preserve. Northern California also has many rivers and beaches perfect to go fish, rafting, or boating. Deep-sea fishing is also great in the area of Eureka.
Clearly, Northern California is a somewhat untapped resource in the Sunshine State we all know and love. Go and tap in, and find out why California is one of everyone's favorite United States!
Movies You Need To See
Have you watched any good movies recently? Well okay, the fact is there haven't been a lot to choose from. Come on, what I meant is, is there anything that is not a sequel or a re-make nowadays? At present I know for a fact that lots of screenwriters from around the world are pumping out new scripts all the time; perhaps even one hundred thousand a year or so. Therefore, the problem lies within the inner circle of Hollywood. The movie business has just gone down hill.
In any case you can pop open your favorite search engine and do a quick surf for the latest movies. Tell me, once you've opened your local movie guide; which ones you actually want to pay eight bucks to see. Sure this can be a tricky decision with the whole 50 dollar concessions fee and all. Regardless of Hollywood's lack of nuance and clever material, movies will continue to turn a large profit around the globe. So what are you waiting for...have you bought your tickets yet?
Do you know how many of the latest movies are 50 percent CG? Well, I'm talking about computer graphics. Lately this is one of the brilliant aspects of film. I am not saying this because it requires less of the actors or film crew, but because it allows us to believe. Everything looks so real that we forget we're watching a fantasy world. This is truly a great aspect of film, you sure can get lost in it for a while.
In fact recently I watched the movie, Silent Hill, and it did a marvelous job with special effects. I simply don't understand how they would have made the film without them. On a different note, the cool thing about heading out to the movie theater nowadays is the convenience. You no longer have to call that hotline and sit through the whole spiel, only to realize later that you weren't paying attention when they announced the show times for your film of choice. The big World-Wide-Web does it all for us. If you prefer you can bring up any movie theater's website and check out the show times. Several of these sites even allow you to purchase the tickets online. That means no waiting at the front. You can head straight in to the concessions.
It's that simple! You can check out the latest movies listed on your home computer. If you're planning to head out this Friday night with the girl of your dreams or that cute boy from next door, maybe you should hop online and look through the show times for the latest movies available. Or if you like, you can even skip ahead and see what's playing Friday. The latest movies and show times are right at your fingertips.
