We tend to think that all you need to do is just look one up and there you have it, a contracted moving company and then just wait for movers to show up at your house. First, is a Non-Binding Estimate. This is the best way of making sure that you're financially protected by a moving company is to get all expected services in writing. That is something that you can't ignore or skimp on. Getting all the movers do's and don'ts in writing is the only way you can know for sure what you can expect. Many people fall into the idea that movers are expected to move anything and move it anywhere. That is a mistake that will cost you big time. It is to your advantage not to choose non-binding estimates because that is when rates can go up and you are responsible for the differences.

Second, is a Binding Estimate. Once you've done your homework of getting several quotes to find who has the better rates and services and as long as you have it in writing from your choice moving company, you generally have about 60 days for your estimate to keep at the price and terms stated. Especially if you have a family to consider not having to scout around again for an affordable rate is better for you and your family in the long run. This is the better of the terms because you know up front what you are expected to pay and what you can expect from the movers I terms of how much and where to move your items.

Third, is a Not-to-Exceed Binding Estimate and when it comes to moving terminology; this is the most important thing you need to be familiar with in order to keep from getting ripped off from moving companies. This is the difference to paying only what was stated on your moving contract to then shelling out big bucks because you didn't do a thorough job of understand that moving companies can issue three different types of estimates.

The kind of estimate that gives you the best of both worlds is the third type of estimate. The movers give you a Binding Estimate, then weigh the vehicle and reduce the price if the weight is less than anticipated.

This is where you can save a lot of money.

Keep that in mind because if you think that you got a great rate you probably did because the company cut corners and hired day laborers to pack your stuff. These types of movers typically are not as packing educated or careful as skilled and professional packers and movers.
