Commerce

West New York is in a state-established real estate known as an, "Urban Enterprise Zone," This is a program designed to assist businesses in economically distressed communities across New Jersey's real estate. Businesses within the real estate zone can apply for a variety of incentives. Sometime this is a good reason for moving your business to this relocation. The incentives include a sales tax reduction to customers of 3 percent from the statewide mandated 7 percent statewide sales tax. That savings could sure help many businesses.

In addition, there is no tax on clothing or on purchases made by merchants related to the operation of their businesses. These are great reasons for relocation. The revenue generated from this is kept in a special fund dedicated for use within the real estate zone for specific economic development and physical improvement projects. These means it will become an even better relocation. The real estate zone was established in the winter of 1995 through the efforts of assembly member Rudy Garcia, who later became the mayor of Union City.

History

West New York is located in Hudson County. West New York was incorporated as a town by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature in the summer of 1898. It replaced Union Township as relocation. Until the 1880s, the main commercial area of West New York was located on Palisade Avenue. Henry Kohlmeier, an influential resident, who lived in West New York, objected to the noise created by the earsplitting horse-drawn carriages. Instead of moving or finding relocation and different real estate, he made a fuss. His objections led to a route being transferred two blocks west to what is known now as Bergenline Avenue. It runs parallel to Palisade Avenue and is the city's main commercial route. It is currently the longest commercial avenue in the state. This real estate has more than 300 retail stores and restaurants. Your business would do well if it were moving here as part of a relocation.

Bergenline Avenue runs through the entire length of West New York from north to south, and through Union City, Guttenberg and North Bergen. This makes it the main commercial strip for North Hudson. Like Chicago, this real estate is known as the "Miracle Mile," Most of Bergenline's retail and chains are located at the intersection of 32nd Street in Union City, and continues north to 92nd Street in North Bergen.

Some of the businesses you can find in West New York, New Jersey include Anthony Bracco Art Studio, it is an in-house graphic art and design studio; Met Mortgage Commercial, it offers commercial and hard money private bridge loans for real estate nationwide; and Bambi's Baby Center.

Interesting Facts If you are moving to or finding relocation in West New York, you can brag to your friends that you are living in the location where two popular movies were filmed. Director Luc Besson directed the first one. It is the 133- minute-Léon, which is also known as The Professional in its United States' release. The very moving movie stars Jean Reno as Leon. He is an assassin and works for the Mafia. He lives in a run-down apartment building. A drug dealer kills everybody in Leon's next down apartment - except Matilda, who is played by a young Natalie Portman. She seeks solace and relocation in Leon's apartment. Twelve-year-old Matilda has experienced a tough life and she wants revenge, so when she discovers that Leon is a killer, she offers to pay him for the assassination of all the men involved in her family's death. She also asks to become Leon's apprentice.

Another moving movie filmed in West New York is Independence Day. This is an Academy Award winning 1996 science fiction film directed by Roland Emmerich. The film's plot is about an attempted alien takeover of Earth and features several scenes where landmarks such as the White House, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and the US Bank Tower in Los Angeles are being destroyed by Aliens. I guess the Aliens were thinking about relocation to this world.

There's even a film entitled West New York. It wasn't filmed in West New York real estate but it deals with some of its fictional residents. Alcoholism cost ex-cop Tom Coletti, played by Frank Vincent, his marriage and job. But he begins working for a New Jersey bank, and watching over the disposal of corporate bonds. Because he is desperate for cash, he pockets some of the bonds before they can be destroyed. And begins thinking about relocation. However, a West New York mobster, Carmine Ferraro, played by Vincent Pastore, is upset when he doesn't get any action from this theft. So, Coletti is on the run and seeks relocation from the cops and the mob in this action thriller that takes place in West New York.

Moving To New York City
Served by three major airports, two train terminals and a

massive bus depot, New York City is the most important

transportation hub in the northeastern USA. John F Kennedy

Airport (JFK), 15 miles (24km) from Midtown Manhattan

in southeastern Queens, is where most international

flights land. Recently voted the third-worst airport facility

in the world by business travelers, JFK is best avoided.

La Guardia Airport in northern Queens is 8 miles (13km)

from Manhattan and services mostly domestic flights. If

you're arriving or departing in the middle of the day, La

Guardia is a more convenient choice than JFK. Newark

Airport is in New Jersey, directly 10 miles (16km) west

of Manhattan.

Eating In New York:

Need some recommendations? Try the relaxed gourmet

cuisine of Portuguese restaurant Alfama on 551 Hudson

Street (especially on Wednesdays); the funky yet provincial

Italian hotspot, Max on 51 Avenue B; and in the summer

there is always the 79th Street Boat Basin for sunsets,

barbecued food and great atmosphere.

Getting Around In New York City:

There are 5 main ways to get around New York, they are;

By Subway, By Taxi, By Car, By Bus, By Foot

The subway isn't the cleanest form of transportation,

homeless people live in stations and even in subway cars;

but since everyone uses it all the time, central

Manhattan is generally considered safe.

Nighttime is not necessarily a dangerous time to travel

as long as you are taking a popular subway line, abstain

from flashy jewelry, and are not going to one of the outer

boroughs. Stay away from the platform's edge, and board

the train during non-rush hours from the off- peak waiting

area, marked at the center of every platform (this area

is monitored by cameras, and the conductor's car often stops

here).

Once you board, try to be in the same subway car as other

people you think are safe and stay near the middle to be

close to the conductor (you'll see his face from the

platform).

During rush hour and in crowded stations like 42nd

St.-Times Sq., hold your bag with the opening facing you

to discourage pickpockets. A real concern for women is

sexual molestation - there are quite a few crazies who

ride the subways to brush up or grope others. If this

happens, be loud in your indignation.

When dealing with taxi drivers, remember that they know

where they are going better than you, so don't presume

to know the best route to somewhere because it's what

you've heard.

Remember to tip at least 15% and a minimum tip of at

least 50 cents if not more.
