Muscle testing was something that I had no interest in, nor did I really believe in it; rather, I was forced to learn the skill in order to survive a malicious onslaught of hundreds of food allergies. Now, with years of experience in muscle testing and having witnessed a distinct reversal in the deterioration of my health, I can state unequivocally that this is the most fascinating and valuable skill one can learn for improving his or her health. Moreover, the applications of this skill vastly extend beyond one's health, as I will illustrate below.
I am a ?universal reactor.? In other words, I'm allergic to just about everything. You name it, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, meats, carbohydrates, fruits, and anything else you can think of; I cant eat it. So how am I still breathing? Energy-based allergy treatments such as NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique) have temporarily eliminated my allergies while I search for a permanent cure. Muscle testing, however, has been the amazing tool I've used to identify my severe allergies on a daily basis. Without this remarkable tool, I would no longer be here.
My introduction to muscle testing came from several doctors who perform NAET. At first, I had trouble believing that muscle testing was real; rather, it seemed like some mysterious magic trick. I held a homeopathic allergen vial in my hand, extended my arm out horizontally, and the doctor pushed down on my arm. When I was allergic to the energy in the vial, my arm dropped like a stone; I simply could not control my arm! The doctor then ?cleared? my allergy using a special spinal adjustment that he performed while I held the allergen vial in my hand.
Naet worked fine for a while, until my allergies became severe. Incredibly, I had become allergic to just about every food except for vegetables and white rice. If this wasn't bad enough, I had become allergic to my own organs; this is a accepted phenomenon in NAET circles, but it is something that mainstream medicine doesn't really acknowledge. I was now a universal reactor, experiencing symptoms that made me desperately weak, frequently disoriented, bedridden with headaches, and at times confined at home with severe gastrointestinal episodes.
Stricken with hundreds of allergies and complex combination allergies it was impossible to continue with NAET treatments; they were about $50 each, I needed several per day, and my doctors were having trouble dealing with the complexity of my allergies. Clearly, they had not dealt with many cases like mine and their energy-based treatments were no longer ?holding.? In other words, my allergies would return just a few days after a naet treatment. Out of necessity and due to disappointment with my doctors, I started practicing muscle testing in order to personally identify the overwhelming food and organ allergies that were plaguing my life.
Muscle testing the way my NAET doctors do is not difficult. You hold a potential allergen in your hand and extend your other arm out horizontally. The doctor exerts pressure downward on your extended arm and if an allergy is present, your arms loses strength and drops down. When I first tried muscle testing with a partner, it took a bit of practice to recognize when an allergy was present and to learn whether the results were accurate. We quickly became proficient, though, and my wife and I have accurately performed muscle testing to diagnose allergies for over two years now. We also perform our own allergy elimination treatments as well. But due to our daily use of muscle testing, we were able to extend its use by simply asking ?yes? or ?no? questions and receiving accurate answers on a broad range of topics. We have indeed learned that muscle testing has exciting applications beyond that of diagnosing allergies.
In his book, Power vs. Force, Dr. David Hawkins contends that there is a communal consciousness or a ?database of consciousness? that we can access in order to obtain accurate information. He has conducted considerable research into muscle testing and has determined its reliability through numerous studies. Dr. Hawkins has also created a scale of relative truth which is calibrated numerically from 1 to 1000. Using this scale, one can use muscle testing to rate the truth (position on the scale) of intellectual positions, statements, theories, books, and even the integrity of individuals. For example, one can state, ?this book (individual) (politician) (philosophy) calibrates at 250 (Y/N); and one can continue this testing until a weak response determines the answer. A calibration of 200, for example, would indicate a level of courage, affirmation, and empowerment. The fact that Dr. Hawkins is an extremely successful psychiatrist lends credence to his unusual and provocative application of muscle testing.
Dr. Hawkins is not the only one to extend the application of muscle testing in novel ways. Dr. Sally St. John, a psychologist from Texas, teaches muscle testing so that we can ?reunite with the ultimate truth which connects us all.? She calls her system ?Applied S.E.L.F. Kinesiology? and she utilizes the scientific method in a series of steps in which muscle testing is used to ?prove truth by disproving falsehood.? Dr. St. John offers training in her muscle testing system, with several areas of focus ranging from: success, career, weight loss, health, relationships, and spirituality. Clearly, Dr. St. John believes that muscle testing is a unique skill that can be used to help people in a variety of ways.
Dr. Denice Moffat is a veterinarian and Certified Naturopathic physician that I have consulted with in the past. She is a holistic health practitioner located in Idaho, and I was very grateful to personally experience her warmth, talent, and expertise. Here's what Dr. Moffat has to say about muscle testing: ?It is an awesome and powerful tool. My personal favorite of all the techniques I've learned.? On her web site, Dr. Moffat explains some of the practical uses of muscle testing. These include:
1. Testing for allergies
2. Finding vitamin or mineral excesses or deficiencies
3. Finding the primary cause of a disease
4. Find out which drugs or supplements are the best for you
5. Prioritize your work or tasks
6. Communicate with your pets
7. Communicate with your loved ones who have passed away
8. Determine the percentage involvement of different layers of disease
9. Decide what part of the country to move to
10. Backtrack to find the primary cause of someone's death
11. Decide which foods are best for your pet
12. Find out what emotions trigger you to eat certain foods
I share Dr. Moffat's enthusiasm about muscle testing and I am encouraged that physicians such as she are beginning to realize its value in the clinical arena as well as personal areas. I am now using muscle testing to identify the core reasons for my food related allergies, but I would feel quite confident using it for several other reasons that Dr. Moffat suggested. After years of personally experiencing how accurate muscle testing can be, one can't help but feel, ?hey, it's really nice having the truth at your fingertips!
