Keywords represent a word, or up to a three word phrase, that tells in detail exactly what your website is about. Even though these should be used throughout your site, you should never overuse them. You should use just the right amount to please the engines.
There is a great danger your site will be rejected or you will have very low rankings if your repeat keywords every line or every other word.
Your density is always equal to the percentage of you total keyword count on any given web page.
Ok, say you have 100 words on your website page, to make it simple. Now, do not add the the words and symbols used in the HTML coding. Say you have 5 keywords. Just divide the total number of keywords by the number of words on your web page.
Now we need to divide 5 by 100. Your keyword density is always a percentage of your sites page total word count, so multiply the total by 100 ( this is part of the formula always used not the word count in our example), now we have .05 x 100 = 5%
You should never exceed the accepted standard for most search engines that is between 3% and 5%. Doing this will cause the engines to think you are just trying to stuff the right words in your site to get higher rankings.
This rule applies for every page on your site, not just the home page. Here are some simple steps to check your page for your density:
Simply choose a page you would like to check. Then, copy and paste the content into a word-processing program like Word or Word Perfect.
Now that you have it pasted into your word-processing program go to the 'Edit' menu and click 'Select All'. Then in the 'Tools' menu select 'Word Count'. Write the number of words you have on that page on a sheet of paper.
Go to the 'Find' function located in the 'Edit' menu. Now in the 'Find' field type in the keyword you want to check. In the 'Replace' type that same word so you do not change your content.
When the replace function has completed, the program will give you a count of how many times it found that word or phrase. This will be your keyword count for that web site page.
You can now use your formula and figure out your keyword density for any page, when you are website writing, armed with the total keyword count and total word count. Keep the search engines smiling when they see one of your sites by staying inside the the accepted standards.
My Website To Search Engines
If links are important for commercial or personal sites, so it is equally important for corporate websites. Why are links so important? Links are considered as measure of a particular website’s importance and popularity especially in the eyes of the search engines. Remember that the more links your website has, the more it will be viewed by the search engines as relevant. When your corporate website is considered important, it will be given a higher ranking by the search engines.
Where Do Corporate Websites Get Relevant Links?
Since corporate websites need valuable and relevant links, it is important that you know where to get relevant links for your corporate website. As an owner of a corporate website, remember to get inbound links from other websites every time you find a chance. But where can you get relevant links? Beginners on the search engine optimization process and linking stuffs can start on these websites and directories:
•Trade association websites that your company belongs to;
•Industry trade magazines related to your own company or online business;
•Industry portals and directories;
•Search engine directories;
•Open Directory Projects;
•Blog Directory; and
•Other related websites dealing with the same line of industry as your company.
Earning a higher rank from the search engines and doing better on the internet business is not at all dependent on the links. There are still other important factors to consider if you wish to see your corporate website on the top ten of the search engines’ page results.
Relevant Content
Aside from links, corporate websites also need valuable content. Relevant content will be an additional advantage to your website as you try to achieve a higher ranking on the search engines. How can you have a valuable content on your corporate website? Here are some effective ways to guarantee quality web content for corporate websites:
•You can add online dictionary or glossary of technical terms related to your online business or company;
•You can include relevant articles about your industry written by experts (this can even be more helpful if you allow these articles to be syndicated for use by other websites); and
•Include valuable information about your company and its staff.
One Main Domain Name
Forget about having multiple domain names first. A corporate website must have only one main domain name. All others must be redirected to the main domain name. Having multiple domain names with the same content may trigger a red flag from the search engines; so as much as possible, avoid it! The search engines practically abhor websites with duplicate content.
