I was prowling for a good comedy while I was in Blockbuster when “Nacho Libre" first came out. I remember seeing the trailers of this movie and though it might be a blast to see as it looked really funny. After all, Jack Black was in it. He’s one of my favorite comedians as I really enjoyed him in “School of Rock." I’m also a big pro wrestling fan so I though “Well hey, if you throw in Jack Black and pro wrestling…It’s gotta be good!"
So when I got home I discovered something else kind of funny. It’s the first time ever that I got a movie in which the first word in the title matched the meal I was eating while watching it. I was dishing up some nachos ready to watch “Nacho Libre."
The only thing was I enjoyed eating my nachos more than I enjoyed watching Nacho Libre. I was actually really disappointed in it as I expected something so much better. I just thought the premise was very poor. It started off really bad and continued to get worse. No disrespect to Jack Black because I think he was really trying to pull off a humorous character within the movie as he had a good comedic accent going on, but it just didn’t deliver like I thought it would have.
My wife was just getting tired of the movie as it was just plain bad. Nacho Libre just didn’t do it for me. The wrestling scenes and the way it was portrayed was very sub-standard and I just didn’t get why this movie ‘became’ a movie. So I’m going to have to give Nacho Libre 4 out of 10 as I expected so much more from a Jack Black movie.
