Anyone who lives in an area with a high number of oak trees is all too familiar with the huge amounts of pollen that these trees produce and the allergy symptoms that result. Looking almost like fuzzy little worms, the pollen pods release the oak pollen into the air to be carried by the wind, and the pods drop to the ground to pile up and make a mess on the ground.



Oak pollen coats everything, leaving a yellow-brown film on windows and cars, and staining the pavement where the pollen pods collect. Oak allergy sufferers are overcome with sinus drainage, irritated eyes, coughing, and sneezing that may resist almost every allergy treatment available.

Those afflicted with oak allergies may turn to desperate measures such as steroid injections as a means to stem the tide of allergy symptoms. Some get motivated to try for long-term relief through allergy shots, often unaware that shots usually take months or years to get good results.

Many oak allergy sufferers will seek out natural relief from treatments like nutritional supplements, herbal remedies, homeopathy and/or acupuncture, and all of these forms of treatment will provide some degree of temporary relief for the majority of people. Dr. Devi Nambudripad is an acupuncturist and chiropractor in California who accidentally discovered that stimulating specific acupuncture meridians while being exposed to allergens one is reactive to can reset the body so that it no longer has allergies.

NAET was originally developed in the 1980's. Since that time, other similar techniques have come on the scene, and there are now more streamlined and efficient natural allergy elimination methods in use, but NAET contnues to be the most widely practiced. To the uninitiated, all of the energy based allergy elimination methods are very strange, and may seem too fast and easy to be effective, but in the eight years I have been using ASERT (Allergy and Sensitivity Elimination and Reprogramming Technique, a newer, more efficient technique based on the basic principles of NAET), I have had great outcomes with the vast majority of even the most severe of allergy sufferers.

It has been my observation that the body appears to develop allergies in a "guilt by association" manner. What I mean by this is that when there is an activation of the body's immune system and inflammatory response from something other than pollen, the body may begin to associate the immune reaction with the presence of a given allergen, thus triggering a reaction to the allergen when the body is exposed to it again. In other words, if you catch the flu during a time when oak pollen is high, you may develop oak allergies.
