The new design was announced in December 2008, but it will not be available to buy in the stores until June 2009.
Its syncopation with social sites like Bebo and Facebook makes it so easy for friends to keep in touch and share not just calls and texts, but emails, blogs, videos and music files. Complete with QWERTY keyboard, posting, twittering, chatting and emailing have never been so convenient.
The phone has everything you would expect from an advanced technology mobile, including the now standard MP3 player and radio, video player, Bluetooth, 5 mega-pixel camera and video recorder, 16GB memory card slot, multimedia messaging and video calling, as well as 64 polyphonic ringtones to choose from.
Despite its huge multimedia capabilities, the N97 has a solid standby time of 18 days, 17 when operating in 3G. And you can talk for almost a full ten hours before the battery will want a recharge.
As far as the all-important dimensions go, it is a surprisingly slim package when you consider the bumper features. It measures in at 117.2 x 55.3 x 15.9mm, so this really is a pocket-sized computer. Talk time is a solid 9.5 hours, while its standby time is an incredible 18 days.
Nokia have developed a whole new location-led concept with this handset, entitled Social Location, or So-Lo. With the aid of advanced GPS systems, this mobile computer intuitively understands where it is at all times.
The screen can be used as a compass too in a new concept that Nokia have called Social Location. The Social part is in there because it means that you and other Nokia N97 users that you are in contact with can let each other know where you are geographically allowing you to find each other more easily
