More than likely you've been 'dizzy' at some point in your life. You've likely experienced this feeling a number of times if you visit amusements parks, or played on the merry-go-round at the park (with or without the kids.)
Feeling dizzy is different for different people, but the episode is commonly only present for a short time.
How would it feel if hours later you still had this sensation?
Sufferers from a type of dizziness known as vertigo experience this sensation on a regular basis. Some suffer more often than others.
It may be subjective vertigo or objective vertigo.
The first type is when you feel that you are the moving object. The latter describes the feeling that objects around you are in motion. It can create difficulty with walking or even standing as well as other serious problems.
Some episodes can be remedied with medication. There is a host of various symptoms that can come with vertigo. Balance problems and nausea are just a couple.
Usually vertigo is the result of a central nervous system problem or infections of the inner ear.
BPPV is a typical type of vertigo. Benighn paroxysmal positional vertigo can occur due to an injury to the head area or an ear infection. The inner ear canal is filled with fluid which contains tiny structures (crystalline.)
The balance system detects the moving particles and perceives movement when there is none.
Fortunately this type of vertigo lasts less than a minute and can be alleviated.
Meniere's disease is another form of vertigo in which sufferers experience a sudden onset of symptoms that include hearing loss and ringing in the ears. Treatment includes medications to reduce the spinning sensation and anxiety as well as a diet restricted in sodium.
Vertigo can also be caused by an acoustic neuroma, a tumor on the balance and hearing nerves near the inner ear. This is a more serious diagnosis but if caught early can be surgically removed.
In addition to vertigo, symptoms associated with this type of tumor can include one sided hearing loss and ringing in the ears. Vertigo can also be a result of head trauma, multiple sclerosis, migraines, and bacterial or viral infections.
Next time you're experiencing a bout of dizziness, remember there are people who live with this everyday. They're suffering multiple times throughout the day in some cases, often for several minutes to hours at a time.
But suffering does not have to continue.
Thousands of people have found relief in my natural program that treats vertigo and dizziness. The exercises are very easy but very powerful and can put an end to the suffering.
