There are known issues and bugs in Outlook Express, and there are other programs in Windows running at the same time as you use Outlook Express. An application crash or a system failure or a sudden power outage can cause corruption in the mail database used by Outlook Express. A known limitation in Outlook Express limits the size of its mail database to 2 GB.
