Senator Obama and Senator McCain's insurance plan proposals have been reviewed by top economists and they have decided that neither plan will work. The Washington Times and Associated Press report that economists have concluded that neither proposals offer any good for Americans.
Under Senator McCain's reform plan, workers would be pushed out of the employer-based health insurance system - around 20 million, estimates these economists. McCain's plan does allow people to purchase individual health insurance across state lines, which will result in about 21 million obtaining coverage.
McCain will offer $2500-$5000 tax credits, but once the premiums go up and coverage goes down, critiques say that it won't assist Americans in getting ahead. McCain's plan will do nothing to lower the number of Americans that are uninsured, says the critiques.
The three economists grading the plans say that Obama's plan is not any better. His plan that required employers to provide employees with health care, would be costly to the government, and probably quicken inflation.
It would also result in pay cuts or job loss. We are not experts, but the reports do seem a bit cynical.
