Yesterday, Congress passed a bill by a ratio of 4:1 (large enough to override if the president should choose to veto) which would enable the Justice dept (one asks why the Justice dept instead of Treasury? Commerce? Highways?) to sue OPEC for price gouging and for limiting supplies of oil to America.
The bill now goes to the Senate. If it passes it will somehow subject OPEC countries such as Iran and Venezuela to heed American antitrust laws.
Another facet of the bill is that it charges the Justice Dept to create a task force to aggressively look into the gouging of gas prices and market manipulation.
Some of the things that are unacceptable about this proposal follow
Retaliation -
The number of instances where I agree with Bush's White House are very very few and far between but we agree that this legislation is a bad idea. The White House issued a statement stating that to target the OPEC countries would only anger them to retaliate against us and do more of what they are doing that is being objected to
The administration said less oil going to refineries would limit available gasoline supplies and raise fuel prices. Duh!
Globalism ? For any country to seek recourse against any other country someone has to be in the middle or above? So, for one country to sue another is a step towards globalism since the United Nations or some other such organization is going to have to gain new powers not granted by our Constitution. This is a clear and present danger to American sovereignty. We need to cease this continuous march towards globalism.
Wrong Target ? What a bunch of arrogant criminals we have in Congress. Do they really think that noone is watching?. They think that they can fool all of the people all of the time? Uh uh! They try to sue OPEC for manipulation and all but what about our ?American? automotive and oil corporations (which have Congress in their pockets)? Since 1995 all new cars are equipped with a sensor. What's it there for? It keeps your MPG from reaching above the levels that Big Oil are willing for it to have! This is a fact and you can ask any mechanic worth his grease and he will confirm it for you.
The answer to the skyrocketing price of gasoline lies in grassroots activism and new technologies but don't hold your breath for new technologies to come from corporations. That is working at cross purposes to their religion of the holy profit
One such technology is Water4Gas.
is offering information for a nominal fee which individuals can use at home to create a small gizmo which instills hydrogen into the gasoline/air mixture that their car or truck runs on.
The process makes bite sized particles out of the ones that the engine burns as fuel. So the engine gets to use a lot more of it.
With WATER4GAS you can reasonably expect to improve your MPG by 30-50% or significantly more. Those particles "musta" been pretty darn huge in some systems before. But with W4G they are made usable so you can improve your MPG.
It also helps reduce emissions significantly.
