Oris is renowned for making excellently designed and manufactured wristwatches at prices below its competitors. The TT2 Williams F1 Day Date watch is no exception. It was designed to commemorate the sponsorship Oris provided to the Williams BMW F1 racing team. The sharp lines of the Oris Williams F1 watch really do reflect the spirit of a technically lead sport.



The Oris TT2 Williams F1 Day Date watch comes with many features that you would expect of an Oris timepiece; a solid stainless steel case and bracelet, sapphire crystal, and ETA 2836-2 movement. What is especially attractive is the blue color luminous material used on the dial - more about that later.

The Case

The case is 40.5mm in diameter and is constructed using a three-piece design making this rather unusual as most watch manufacturers are abandoning this method of construction: the fewer pieces, the less points of failure. The fit is flawless and the three separate pieces have a polished /brushed/polished finish which gives a very nice contrast. The case is angled on the back at the 3 and 9 positions thereby providing a very comfortable fit. The display case back is a very nice feature. I happen to like being able to see the inner workings of a wrist watch. Unlike most sporty watches, the back is fixed with 4 screws rather than the usual screw on case back - the use of screws lends to the sporty, tough look of the Oris Williams watch. Finally, the bezel is squared off, which makes the case look larger and makes is seem to stand out higher from the case.

The Dial.

The dial looks like it has been constructed from blue carbon fiber but it isn't. In fact the effect has been achieved by printing a pattern in blue on the black base dial. It would have been better had Oris used blue carbon fiber but unless you look real close you can't really tell the difference. The outer dial is black and complements the blue dial. The day and date feature is very nice as are the polished stainless steal hour and minute hands that have been dipped in a blue luminous material half way along their length - unusual, as most luminous hands on other watches usually run along the length of the hand. The blue luminous material is also used on each of the hour markers; the 3, 9 and 12 arabic numerals are also of a blue luminous material.

The Crown

The large signed crown perfectly suits the style of the watch; the large size and fluting making it easy to wind. However, it does not come with the extra security of a screw down crown.

The Bracelet

Oris is renowned for making some of the strongest and most reliable of bracelets. The bracelet of the Oris TT2 Williams F1 Day Date watch is no exception. It is constructed of solid stainless steel, with press fit pins for the removable links. The bracelet tapers slightly from the pivoting case links down to the 3rd link; again, this is a little unusual for a sports watch, but does look okay on this particular watch. The clasp is a single push button that opens and closes smoothly and holds strong and comes with the Oris logo as you would expect.

Many commemorative or sponsored watches are made to cash in on some product or other with build quality and aesthetics of the timepiece taking a back seat. Not so with the Oris TT2 Williams F1 Day Date wrist watch. Its price is affordable for many consumers and its styling and build quality matches if not surpasses many of its more expensive rivals.
