When we look at satellite pictures that are sent to earth from space, it is wondrous to see how vividly blue our planet is. It is, of course, the vast amount of water that we are seeing. It can give us a better idea of just how little land masses there are compared to the water content. We know that without the water that we have here on earth it would be impossible for mankind and other species on our planet to survive.



Ever since man came up with the idea to travel to our moon we have been curious as to what it is like on the other planets that we know of especially Mars. For many years now we have sought to find ways that we could go to mars. Now that we have sent craft to Mars and have had them land safely, we are in the process of testing the dirt and rocks there for any sign of life and water.

There are places on Mars that actually look like ice and we are more interested in ever about what that ice might contain. Many might believe that it would be impossible for any life form to survive in ice, but here on earth we have found life forms that survive in extremely hot temperatures that we never expected either.

We are spending millions upon millions of dollars doing space exploration not only on Mars, but other planets as well. Since we still do not have the technology required to actually send people to these places it might make you wonder why we do it. It is not likely that any one from our time would ever travel to these far away places even if we were to find life sustaining water or air there.

It could be that our overwhelming need to know for sure whether there are other places somewhere out there that could possibly be inhabited by mankind when and if something ever happened to our own planet earth. The question is even if we were to find such a place would we be able to develop the technology to get some of us there? It might seem very far fetched that we will ever do so, but when you look back over the past one hundred years with all of the technology that has been developed during this time it actually does seem possible that we could travel physically to far away planets.
