The strange thing is that it seems that everyone has at least a little bit of persistence in them, and in training it can become greater. Just look at children and the way they behave. Children are extremely persistent in that they will try the same thing over and over again until they either accomplish their task or are suppressed by a parent.

For example, when a child is learning how to walk he or she will consistently try to stand every day. Eventually he or she will then take a few steps and fall. That fall never seems to phase them; they just keep on taking those steps until they can walk, then run, and finally jump. That is persistence in its purest form. The child just keeps getting up after falling and taking more steps until the task of walking is finally accomplished. Their persistence continues with learning how to run, jump, and then communicate, read, write, and so on.

This is just one example of persistence, and one that shows we all have persistence within us. Even if you feel that you are not persistent, you are, and you can become more persistent by creating worthwhile accomplishments and gaining confidence in yourself, your work and your life overall.
