Physical Symptoms Of Anxiety Stress

    View:
As a human being, it is normal that we feel anxious, worried, and fears from time to time due to the things that our complicated lives bring. Anxiety is just a part of life. It helps us cope with the stresses we may encounter. If you are in a state of anxiety, it is likely that you experience anxiety attack.

Anxiety attack is a sudden surge of overwhelming fear that comes without warning and without any apparent reason and this would usually last for no more than 10 minutes. It is far more intense than having anxiety or the feeling of being stressed out. One in every 75 people worldwide will experience an anxiety attack at one point in his orher life.

Most anxiety sufferers report fear of dying, going crazy or losing control of emotions as well as behavior. The incidents generally provoke a strong urge to escape or run away from the place where the attack begins, and they are associated with chest pain or shortness of breath, and feeling of impending doom.

A person with a phobia will often experience an anxiety attack as a direct result to the hung-up trigger. These anxiety attacks are brief and quickly relieved once the trigger is escaped. In the conditions of chronic anxiety, one anxiety attack can usually turn into another one, leading to a nervous fatigue over a period of days.

An anxiety attack has symptoms that often occur suddenly without any apparent cause. The symptoms can be as follows:

Pounding heartbeat, generally faster in nature

Increased sweating

Dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea

Difficulty breathing

Tingling and or numbness in the face

Dreamlike sensations or perceptual distortions (de-realization)

Disassociation, the perception that one is not connected to the body and time

Fear of losing control and doing something embarrassing

Fear of dying

Feeling of impending doom

Crying, associated to the above symptoms

Anxiety attack usually last for several minutes and is considered one of the most disturbing condition that anyone can live through in everyday life. The way to understand the different symptoms of anxiety attack is: first, comes the sudden jolt of fear with less or no triggering motivation, and then this will lead to a release of adrenaline (epinephrine), which causes the supposed fight-or-flight response, where the person's body prepares for major physical activity.

This results to an increased heart rate, labored breathing or hyperventilation, and sweating. The diaphragm, involved in the action of the lungs, is also a muscle and it can become overly tight.

When there is continuous, inferior anxiety, a person frequently works too hard when breathing. However, if there is hyperanxiety or an anxiety attack, there is overwhelming excitement, and a person may hyperventilate.

Because strenuous activity hardly ever arises, the hyperventilation leads to carbon dioxide levels lowering in the lungs and then the blood, resulting to the shift in the pH of the blood, which will then lead to many of the other symptoms, such as tingling or numbness, dizziness, and lightheadedness.

Anxiety attack is a serious condition, but before you start thinking if you have this condition and go running to see a doctor, stop and take a deep breath! Relax before you start having an anxiety attack, even if you actually don't have it.

Don't take things too hard for it may lead to something serious and may affect your daily routine. Take things lightly. In any case, if you think you have this condition, the first thing you should do is see a doctor.

If you are diagnosed with anxiety attack condition, appropriate medication and good counseling can bring your life to normal again. Otherwise, tell yourself to relax and continue to live your life to the fullest.
Physical Symptoms Of Anxiety Stress
Now more than ever, scientific research is attesting the fundamental role of stress in triggering or aggravating a lot of physical and emotional disorders. A cover story from a 1983 Time Magazine called stress "The Epidemic of the Eighties." It also claimed that stress is our considerable health issue. Indeed one has to acknowledge that our world has become more and more complex and stressful in the last 25 years since that article was published.

Many surveys indicate that most adults are under the impression of being subject to a great deal of stress. Researchers in the field estimate that 75 to 90 percent of all visits to primary care physicians are for stress related problems.

Most people report their stress is for the most part due to their job. Stress levels have also grown in children as well as the senior population because of several reasons including: Peer pressures that often lead to everything from smoking to alcoholism and drug abuse; the dissolution of family and religious values and ties; growing crime rates; threats to personal security; but also social isolation and loneliness.

Stress contributes to conditions such as diabetes, ulcers, low back and neck pain, hypertension, strokes and heart attacks. This is due to the ever growing sympathetic nervous system activity along with a high level of cortisol, adrenaline, and other hormones. Chronic stress is often associated with defective immune system resistance. Stress can be responsible for anxiety, depression, and its various impacts on one's organs.

The following definition for "stress" can be found in the American Heritage Dictionary:

"To subject to physical or mental pressure, tension, or strain"

The following is the definition of "tension" from the same dictionary:

"Mental, emotional, or nervous strain"

The following definition is given for "anxiety":

"A state of uneasiness and apprehension, as about future uncertainties"

And the following is the definition of "depression":

"The condition of feeling sad or despondent"

The following is the definition of "clinical depression":

"A psychiatric disorder characterized by an inability to concentrate, insomnia, loss of appetite, anhedonia, feelings of extreme sadness, guilt, helplessness and hopelessness, and thoughts of death."

We can nonetheless be sure that our mind is the chief reason for our feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. To put it into different words, what we think about, and our attitudes and the way we view our experiences create what we feel. That way, if we can learn to modify our thoughts, attitudes, and points of view, we can release our stress, anxiety, and depression and replace them with a more positive state of being.

People have always searched for methods that would allow them to get rid of stress. With the pharmaceutical industry there seems to be a pill for everything. And to that end the industry has produced a large line of tranquilizers from Valium to Xanax. If you choose to utilize these pills for relief, please make sure that you are aware of the side-effects by reading the fine print, which most of the time include addiction and dependency. Unfortunately, these sorts of drugs aim at curing the symptoms, but not the cause. So if one stops ingesting them, the symptoms can return.

A finer way of releasing tension, stress, anxiety, and depression is to treat the root cause, which as I said above, is most often our thought processes. Now, here is some good news. Hypnosis is all about relaxation. The AMA recognized hypnosis in 1958 as an effective method of treating stress and stress related symptoms. And unlike anxiolytics, there are categorically no bad side effects.

Hypnosis is the Alpha level of consciousness. It's the daydream like temporary psychological state that we experience as we are about to fall asleep at night. And we experience it another time when we wake up in the morning. There are hundreds of different ways that we can guide ourselves into this relaxed mood, from progressive relaxation to visual imagery to listening to hypnosis CD's.

Once we enter the hypnotic state, we are able to communicate with our unconscious mind, which is the center of our emotions. And it becomes easier to acknowledge new points of view and ideas that will help us to get rid of anxiety, or even avoid it completely.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP, which is a recently developed form of hypnosis, has several excellent techniques for eliminating stress. Maybe the technique that works best is called the "swish" pattern - or the "flash" pattern. When you use the "swish" pattern, your unconscious will automatically use bad, stress triggering mental images, to generate tranquilizing mental images. Put differently, what usually makes you feel stress will now trigger relaxation!

TO SUM THINGS UP

Our thoughts can cause depression, anxiety and tension. So by changing our attitude and the way we resent our situation and our experiences, we can get rid of these feelings at the source. Hypnosis and NLP are natural tools that allow us to change our attitude and point of view to swiftly get rid of the root cause of these negative feelings.
