My son needs a lock box of his own. I often see him going to school with his keys dangling around his belt loop. I do not know if he is trying to look cool or the belt loop is just the place he can see his keys on at all times and I would not know if he really just do not have a choice. He might lose them keys if he puts them in his pocket. Kids nowadays wear very loose jeans and the keys could easily slip out of the pocket. Or if he puts them inside his bag anyone can just steal them or the bag.
I understand my sons position about his keys. I always warn him to keep them safe and to never, ever, lose them. He has a copy of our house key and if he lose it anybody who knows him and knows where he lives could easily get in our home when no one is around. Another way is to change the locks of all the locks that his keys fit into to avoid theft. Changing the locks for a lost key is an annoyance that the rest of the family will not be keen about. And what about for the rest of his keys that got lost? That would mean changing them too.
The set of keys that we carry often has keys that are least important. They could be keys for your desk drawer at work that does not hold anything important. Or they could be keys for the pantry, kitchen door, back door, attic and other doors that you always keep open yet have their own locks. But when we lose our keys we are more concerned about the important ones. The door to our homes, our cars, our gym lockers, car compartment keys, office keys, etc. Most especially, one of the keys we carry might be for a lock that secures the door for very confidential documents, jewelry, or anything important to us that we would not want to lose.
Some people think that lock boxes are expensive. For me, a place to keep your keys in is worth the money. I have them for my keys. My husband has some for his keys too. A lock box can hold more than one key and if you have more keys than it can fit then you can buy another. It is as easy as that. No hassle, no worries.
Its about time that my son has one too. That way he would not worry about where to keep his keys when hes having soccer practice or his gym class. I think the best one for him would be the combination lock box. He would not need to bring a key with him anywhere he goes. I bet he would love getting a lock box of his own.
