Like humans there really is such a thing called Boston Terrier allergies. In fact your Boston Terrier can be allergic to the same things you are allergic to he may even be allergic to you. Okay, so it's not exactly you, but it's your dander. Boston Terrier allergies will manifest it self when your dog is about three to six years old. There are four types of allergies common to Boston Terriers: food, flea; mites; ticks, contact and, like humans, inhalant allergies.

Your Boston Terrier can be allergic to a number of things. Allergies happen when your Boston Terrier is exposed to allergens and antigens. Their immune system will react extremely to this foreign substances or matter. The overreaction will show itself by itching (in one place or all over), nasal or eye discharge, and the last, because your Boston Terrier has a very sensitive stomach, he will constantly vomit and there will be a disruption of his digestive system.

Perhaps the most common health problem of a Boston Terrier is allergies. Boston Terriers can be allergic to food like beef, chicken, wheat or corn. Boston Terrier allergies can also be triggered by inhalants. Kind of like some people who are allergic to pollen and the smell of detergent. Boston Terriers can also have contact allergies. When a Boston Terrier is allergic to something, their immune system reacts excessively to the allergens and antigens they were exposed to. There are five common types of Boston Terrier allergies including inhalants (the most common), food, contact, flea and bacterial allergies.

Some Boston Terrier allergies are triggered by inhalants. Boston Terriers can be allergic to the same things as humans are, like all types of pollens, mildew, molds and dust mites. Most dogs develop these allergies from spring until fall. Unlike us, Boston Terriers don't get runny noses when they inhale something their allergic to. Instead they get really itchy. They'll scratch, chew and lick every area of their body including their feet.

Another allergen is fleas. Dogs commonly get fleas, but woe to the Boston Terrier who is actually allergic to fleas. The fleabite will itch to high heaven. Imagine that the allergic dog will react to just one flea bit, and where fleas are concerned there definitely isn't only one. When the problem is quite severe your veterinarian will typically immerse your dog in a medicinal bath to kill off the fleas.

Fleabites will only itch a little bit if your dog is not allergic. If your Boston Terrier allergies are caused by fleabites, expect the effect to be a bit extreme. One bite can cause your Boston Terrier to itch as if he has been bitten by a thousand fleas. This is because your dog is allergic to the flea's saliva.

Most Boston Terrier allergies appear when the dog is about three years old and even as late as six. So what do you do when you've got an allergic prone Boston Terrier? The most common Boston Terrier allergies show itself by skin irritations and itching. They tend to have allergic dermatitis and at the moment there is no cure only really expensive treatments.
