Plastic Surgery For Stretch Marks

    View:
There are several treatment choices to select from and one option is plastic surgery for stretch marks. If you want to avoid experiencing a lot of pain or ending up with more scars than before you got your marks treated then choosing one out of the three minimally invasive surgeries can be your solution to a scars free skin.

Chemical Peels

Method of Chemical Peeling - Chemical peeling is a method which involves the application of a chemical solution on the skin. The chemicals strip off the dead skin cells to make way for new and healthy skin. The new skin is usually smoother and more even in color. This makes chemical peels an effective yet minimally invasive plastic surgery for stretch marks.

In chemical peeling, there are different types of acid used. The commonly used chemicals are glycolic, trichloracetic, lactic, and salicylic acids. Light or mild peels only penetrate into the surface of the skin. This kind of peel gives what they call a "freshening" effect and the patient will experience only a sunburn-like redness after every procedure. But more often than not, a series of procedures will be required and sometimes the strength of the acids is increased but this is dictated by the tolerance level of the skin. The redness that results from a mild peeling can be easily covered up with make-up.

Peels of the medium type penetrate the skin much deeper. It also has more effect. The patient will feel more of burning sensation after the procedure and the skin will need a week of healing and minimal sun exposure. With this type of procedure, there is a possibility of swelling and some blistering that may crust and turn brown but this will peel off after a week or so. The deep kind of peels penetrate even deeper into the dermis and can sometimes be a risky process. Some doctors would rather utilize laser technology than perform deep chemical peels.

Laser Surgery

The Cost - The cost and pain that accompanies laser stretch mark removal has gone down in recent years. This method uses a controlled beam of light that focuses on the affected areas to break down scar tissues. The lasers also stimulate new collagen growth. The new collagen works to thicken and plump the skin so that new skin cells can fill up stretch marks from the bottom up.

Varied Results - Not all stretch marks are the same and the effectiveness of laser surgery will depend on a number of things. These factors can include the age and severity of stretch marks. A person's genes and hormones can also affect the results of the treatment. There is proof that laser surgery is more effective when used on fresher scars. Some people combine other methods with laser therapy to get better results.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is another minimally-invasive plastic surgery for stretch mark. This quick procedure has some success in treating stretch marks. It only takes a few minutes per procedure but the patient will need more than one session to see results. The skin is frozen first then a specialized instrument is used to "sand" the skin. This abrasive action removes the area of the skin with visible stretch marks showing only the "new" skin which has no stretch marks on it. The now smooth skin is usually pink but gradually fades over a six to eight week period. However, the patient is advised to avoid any direct or indirect sun exposure for the next three to six months after the procedure. If the treated area is exposed to the sun, this will cause temporary or worse, permanent darkening of the skin.
Plastic Surgery For Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are much more difficult to get rid of than they are created. These silvery lines that appear in fatty parts of our bodies (such as in the thighs, buttocks, and stomachs), are actually scars and they can take a lifetime to heal properly if not treated correctly. However, there are many ways to get rid of stretch marks quickly. One option is to get plastic surgery for stretch marks.

Tummy Tucks

Stretch marks discriminates no one. By gaining weight quickly, you can make it very difficult for the dermis layer in your skin to catch up with the quick growth. What happens is that the dermis tears and then scarring is left. These scars are basically what stretch marks are.

Stretch Marks and Abdominoplasty - Some plastic surgical procedures are actually all about removing excess fat and the removal of dead skin cells. One of these procedures is called Abdominoplasty surgery, or what is also known as a tummy tuck. The procedure involves the removal of extra tissue (fat or skin), contouring and tightening the stomach wall. Since stretch marks are almost always located below the belly button, which is the usual case for pregnant women and people who are overweight, this is the same surgery that can get rid of those stretch marks.

Is It Safe?

Stretch Marks and Tummy Tuck - A tummy tuck is nothing other than tightening your stomach because of excess weight that you might have gained before but lost over time. Those who have been overweight and have lost many pounds will see that there is a lot of excess skin and stretch marks left behind. The end result of this procedure is a flatter stomach. Also, along with the tightening is the removal of all dead skin cells and excess skin. This includes all the stretch marks.

Plastic Surgery - The length of the entire procedure s anywhere between 1 to 3 hours and can be a little painful but it is totally safe as long as you stay around professionals or doctors. You will also notice some scarring from the procedure but those scars can heal over time and this plastic surgery for stretch marks procedure will get rid of the dermis scars you had before surgery.

Does It Remove All Stretch Marks?

Laser Treatment - If you wish to remove all traces of all stretch marks on your body, a tummy tuck will probably not be the best option. Laser treatment will probably be the best avenue for you to take. The problem is that a tummy tuck will get rid of all the stretch marks around the abdominal area but anything beyond that will require a different procedure. You can probably opt for buttock lifts to get rid of stretch marks there but a laser procedure may be best for stretch marks in the arms and thighs.
