One of the most important things to know when playing Texas hold em poker is that you have to play tight. If you have a table full of players and everyone plays loose then how will you end up with a winner? On the other hand if everyone plays tight then you again, can't have any winners.



It may appear that you are winning but really you are just losing less than your opponents. The house will also be victorious. This is a result of each player playing the same style.

Always have your own style. Don't be predictable! And make sure that no one knows your next move.

To win, observe and see what type of game is going on. If it is a tight game then play loose. If it is a loose game then you want to play tight.

It is certainly the only way to win! So play carefully! In a tight game you don't have the upper hand.

You have to remember this because people that play this game usually know what they are doing. Players have a tendency to come and go a lot in this game. A lot of people fold right away.

The result of this is smaller pots so the game might get tighter as you play. If your game gets too tight, maybe it is time to pack it up for the night. For obvious reasons it would be a great game if you were the only tight playing player at the table in a loose game but odds are that isn't going to occur.

Inevitably it would be a beautiful game if you were the only one playing in this manner. But in a loose game the odds are that isn't very feasible. Often players that are loose players will tighten up their game.

Be patient for a while and just observe. Look for how many players call to see the flop in each hand. This is very important information to have.

Study the players and remember which ones stay in on a slim chance and which ones fold more than they do anything else. Soon you will know that the ones that stay on anything. And which are keeping their fingers crossed.

When the ones who fold stay, you need to have something good or walk and it can be hard to walk away. But even the finest Texas Hold 'em Poker players have taken a drop by playing too many rounds in hands that were just too tight. Play tight, play tight in loose games and play in loose games only.
