Although polyester hammocks are available as rope hammocks, cotton hammocks are also available in fabric form also.

Instead of being made from cotton ropes, fabric hammocks are hand woven and are considered the ultimate in rest and relaxation. In fact, modern day hybrid hammocks are usually a combination of cotton and other new age materials and offer both the comfort of cotton and the durability and strength of synthetic fibers. It is important to remember that cotton rope hammocks do have a tendency of sagging after a period of time, and cotton hammocks are not as firm as polyester hammocks after a few years.

Taking care of hammocks

If a hammock is being used indoors, then the hammock does not require any special attention apart from being cleaned regularly. Fabric hammocks should be washed as per the manufacturer's instructions to preserve their color and texture. On the other hand, a hammock being used outdoors should be protected from dirt and moisture; and if possible, not be exposed to direct sunlight over a long period of time. Although polyester hammocks and hybrid hammocks are resistant to direct sunlight, there is a possibility that they might loose color due to prolonged exposure to sunlight.
