Pregnancy And Air Travel

    View:
In the world today, pets have become a part of the modern family. People love their pets very much, and they may pay to take their loved pet on vacation with them. Many types of Pets are allowed on airplanes as long as the owner pays the fees and the requirements are met. Traveling on an airplane can be very stressful for an animal, no matter what breed or species, but it is especially rough on cats and dogs.

If you must take your pet on an airplane, there are some tips that are recommended by the ASPCA. First, make an appointment and take your pet to the vet within ten days of your departure date. Obtain a health certificate from the local vet showing that your pet is healthy. Next make sure that your pet has a collar and identification tag, along with information about your travel destination, just in case. Try to only take your pet on direct flights, as this minimizes any chance of mishandling by airport personnel, as well as guaranteeing that your pet is not left on the tarmac in between flights in severe weather conditions.

It is very important that if you do not have a shipping crate that is USDA approved and is large enough for your pet to turn around in, sit, and stand comfortably, that you purchase one. Many airlines and pet supply stores carry these shipping crates. Write "Live Animal" on the top and as many sides of the crate as you can in letters that are at least one inch tall. Also draw arrows pointing up towards the top of the crate beside the letters. It is also a good idea to write the name, address, and phone number of the destination on the top of the crate.

Make sure that you secure the door to the crate but do not lock it. This is important in case there is an emergency and airline personnel have to open the crate to evacuate your pet. Make sure there is bedding in the bottom of the crate for accidents. Put a photograph of your pet in your purse or wallet, and tape another photo of your loved pet on the top of the crate for the purpose of identification. This way if your pet is accidentally released or escapes, airline personnel will know what animal they are looking for and this could save your pet's life.
Pregnancy And Air Travel
Today no mater where you are going if you plan on going there by air then you will end up spending hours in the airport, carrying your possessions around from one gate to another, shuffling bags, purchasing food, and just sitting around and waiting.

It seams that the more time travellers have to spend at airports, the more travellers' worry about there personal security is an issue. The following are some tips to help minimize the risk of you losing your valuable belongings while travelling.

Travelers' Personal Security ? Packing

As the old saying goes security begins at home. When packing your belongings, place the most important items and documents in your carry on bag that you will keep closest to you. That way you will always know where it is and be aware of anyone trying to steal it.

For individuals traveling with jewelry, this means wearing your most valuable jewelry in flight. Large diamond ear studs are fine to wear with everyday travel clothing; other travelers will assume they are fake cubic zirconium earrings, or rhinestones. Large necklaces and bracelets can be worn under a turtleneck sweater or other clothing that masks the neck. Make sure your clasps and hooks are in good repair so you do not accidentally lose your jewelry while walking through the terminal.

Whatever you decide not wear should be placed in a handbag or fanny pack that is warn in a secure location. As backpacks don't offer as great a level of security as would-be thieves have been known to open a backpack and remove valuable items without the traveller ever knowing that personal security was breached.

Travelers' Personal Security ? Cash

Every traveler needs some cash at the airport for tips, newspapers, meals, and sundries. However, no traveler should carry more cash than absolutely necessary. Usually about $20 to $30 in fives, tens, and ones will meet the traveler's need for cash at the airport. Every modern airport has an ATM. If you need cash at your destination, use the airport ATM after you arrive at your final stop. Carrying, and flashing, large amounts of cash create an irresistible temptation for thieves.

Travelers' Personal Security ? Shopping

The best security advice is to travel with a companion who can watch your belongings for you while you shop, eat, and use the restroom. If you are traveling alone, rent a locker to store your belongings while you wait for your flight to board. Even if you need to rent two or more lockers to stow all your belongings, you will be relieved to carry a small key around with you instead of rolling and toting bags and baggage filled with your valuable belongings.

Travelers' Personal Security ? Security Check

One of the places most travelers commonly lose things is, ironically, when they go through security. As you pass through security lies, be cognizant of how many bins or trays you have left your belongings in, and be sure you have checked that same number of bins or trays before you leave the security area.
