Prepare Your Car For The Year Ahead

Not only do the effects of stop-start drivingand long minutes spend idling in seasonal traffic take a toll on your car, butalso the effects of the icy weather, salt on the roads and constant rain orsnow.

Just as you prepare yourself for the NewYear, prepare your car for another year of transporting you safely from A to B.A good way to start is with a really good clean. Wash, your car, and then dothe same to the interior: vacuum up the last of the Christmas mince pie crumbsfrom the back seat and toss out the unused wrapping paper.

Stock up on fresh bottled water, newbatteries for the torch and a new collection of spare fuses and bulbs. Checkthe spare tyre is in good condition and decide if your tyres will last anotheryear or if you need to begin to save for a new set.

Have a mechanic give the engine a once overand have any little niggles fixed and repaired. Replace the oil, brake fluid,wiper fluid and any other liquids which may need refilling or replacing afteran icy winter.

Consider the other aspects of owning yourcar: Are you happy with your car? Would you rather buy a new car in 2009? Canyou afford to maintain your car in 2009? Consider looking for cheaper ways torun your car. Driving it less, car sharing, looking for cheaper parking and areall ways in which you can save while still keeping your car for when you needit most. Cheaper parking and cheaper can be found with very little effort, just compare prices andpick the best one for your needs.
