There are many ways to earn money on the internet. The most popular is by selling some product or other. The product can be your own or someone else's which you sell for a commission.
If you are thinking of starting a internet business. Chances are you do not have a product of your own. So let's get you started by selling other people's products. As we go on, I will be referring to various web sites. I cannot give their addresses in this document, but you can find them all by doing a simple search.
The first thing you will want to do is find a product to sell. For this I would recommend that you open an account with Click Bank. This is a good place to start and the service is free. Once your account has been confirmed. Do a bit of reading to get the basics.
Secondly, you will need to open an account with Google Adwords. This account you will use to advertise the product and also to do keyword research. More on this later. You will need a credit card to open the account and there may be a nominal setup fee. You cannot really go any further without an Adwords account, so don't let the cost throw you.
Once again, when your account is confirmed, do some reading to get to know the service. In brief this is how it works. You place an ad for the product you are selling and select the keywords that would attract customers to your ad. You would bid on the keywords your have chosen and it stands to reason that the more popular the keyword, the higher the bid.
Now let's find a product to sell. I recommend that for starters you find a product on a subject you know something about. Go to the market place in you ClickBank account and do a search on the subject of your choice. Have a look at the commissions paid as well as the conversion factors. I would not go for anything that pays less the $20. Make a list of about 5 possibilities.
Now we are going to do some research to find out if the product can be profitable. For this purpose we will be using the Adwords keyword tool. Enter the exact full name of the product you have chosen in the tools and let google find keywords.
Have a look at how many searches there are for your keyword or product. If there are less than 1000 searches per month, you may want to try another product. Now have a look at the competition and minimum estimated bid. The more the competition the higher the bid.
But keep in mind that someone entering the search phrase “how to knit gloves” wants to know how to knit gloves. It is then reasonable to assume that out of every 100 clicks on your ad at least one sale should be made. And working on a 100% profit. It means that if the minimum bit is suggested at .10c you will break even on that one sale. Any additional sales are all clear profit.
You may think at this point that this will not make much money. But think about it. 20 to 30 products marketed in the same way, each with a profit of $200.00 plus per month. Not bad for starters.
Enough said. From the keyword list as explained above. You need to find 5 or 6 keywords that describe the product you are selling. Ad these to your keyword list. Remember. The title of the product is the main keyword. You also do not need 1000's of keywords. A select few with low minimum bids will fit the bill perfectly.
Now for the ad. If "How to knit Gloves" for example is the product, then that would be my title. Simple. For the body of the ad, have a look at the competition ads for your keyword. Use the top ones and change them slightly so that your ad is the same but slightly different.
A word of warning. Playing the Adwords game can be can a very expensive exercise if you do not monitor your monthly spending against sales made. You also need to be able to monitor your ads and keywords, to find out which are working and which are wasting you money. If you do this. You could have a very pleasant experience when starting a internet business.
