The reason why these work so well is because people respond to direct commands like this. You don't want to be forceful necessarily, but merely telling them to do something will encourage them to act right away.
If you did print posters and a person did see it on the wall, they might have interest in seeing what your store is all about, but without a call to action they might very well walk away. The call to action takes their natural interest and tells them they should act on it. This gives them a reason to, and increases the odds that they will.
