Rapala Pro Bass Fishing

    View:
When it comes to going pro, getting sponsored on the bass pro fishing circuit is the first, and often most important step in successfully moving from recreational angler to professional status. To begin with, you must have had considerable success and experience as a recreational angler to even consider moving to the professional circuit, so we will operate on the assumption that your bass fishing experience is broad reaching and vast, and just move on to what it takes to be successful in the professional world of bass pro fishing.

For a sponsor to even consider investing their time and money in your move from amateur to professional, you will have to have complete and complex knowledge in the area of bass fishing literally all over the world. You will need to completely understand the biological components of bass and how those components contribute to their behaviors. Only through understanding their behaviors will you be able to be successful catching them. Know the various habitats of bass across the nation. Once you can demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the target, have the experiences you need to be successful, and have done your research, you are ready to approach the world of bass pro fishing and get yourself a sponsor.

The first step in approaching the bass pro fishing world, is to compete in some amateur competitions. Once you have consistently demonstrated success in key amateur competitions, you will most likely have caught the eyes of several potential sponsors.

After that, it is usually just a matter of marketing yourself and nabbing a good sponsor.

Another good way to catch the eyes of potential sponsors is to join a prominent bass club. Keep yourself open to learning from others. If you can find a senior member of your bass club and get them to mentor you, not only can you learn from their skill and experience, you can also benefit from their connections.

Once you have been successful in your bass club and have been able to assert yourself as a force in the amateur bass fishing world, finding a sponsor should be fairly easy. First, before you approach a sponsor (if one does not approach you) be sure you understand their equipment. You have to use and respect the equipment of the sponsors who back you. If you can not effectively use their product, they will not be the right sponsors for you.

If you have no experience speaking in public, consider enrolling in a public speaking course, or several public speaking courses, and try to get some practical experience in the field of public speaking. Begin teaching an amateur class in bass fishing at your local bass club. If you can get some good, solid experience in public speaking under your belt before you approach a sponsor, and you can show that you are effective as a speaker in your resume, you will be a much more attractive prospect in the eyes of your sponsor.

Some anglers do not realize what an important part speaking in public really is for a professional angler, but it is!
Rapala Pro Bass Fishing
If you are you ready to go from being a causal bass fisherman to a professional angler, then you are ready to move up by joining tournaments and eventually by getting sponsored for the Pro Bass Fishing Circuit. So, how do you go about getting sponsored?

Here you will find the information needed to help you go through the steps and work your way up to being sponsored for the Pro Bass Fishing Circuit.

Step One: The first step will be to join bass tournaments so you can begin making a name for yourself. You can start by joining a bass fishing club and participating in their tournaments. Work your way up and practice whenever possible to improve your skills.

The better you are the faster you will be noticed. Become a member of organizations such as the "Professional Tournament Anglers' Association" and so forth to help advance your career. Always strive to be number one or at least to make it to the top five. By doing this you are establishing a track record and proving that you are good at what you do. Step

Two: Continue to work yourself up to bigger and better tournaments such as the state and national tournaments. Practice every chance you get because you need to advance as much as possible. Make sure you go out in all types of weather because you never know what the conditions will be like on the day of the tournaments.

You should also fish at different hours because the bass change their habits and will respond differently depending on the time of day you are fishing. The more wins you have with local and state tournaments the more convincing you will be to sponsors. Most likely you won't win every tournament you enter but you should at least strive for a high placing. This is one thing that sponsors are searching for, someone that is in the spotlight and getting the attention because of their skills.

Step Three Seek out sponsors. Don't wait for them to come to you. Get out there and talk to people and let them know that you have much to offer them in return for their sponsorship.

One way to do this is by becoming as familiar with their products as you possibly can. You can't expect a company to sponsor you if you don't even know what products they represent. It is important to know how to sell yourself. There are many others out there doing the same thing and you need to let sponsors know what makes you unique and why they should choose you over the others.

Step Four Make yourself available by donating some of your free time to giving bass fishing demonstrations for organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America or junior bass tournaments. You can even consider being a guide for a charter service.
