Rc Electric Model Airplanes

    View:
If you are taking up flying for the first time, then it is recommended that you go in for a battery operated model plane. Gasoline powered models require an expert hand and anyway, battery powered planes are quite easy to set up and operate. You will need to buy a model plane with its matching remote control [RC] to enable you to take off, control and land your model plane. You can buy a RTF or a ready to fly plane, which comes with all the required components and instructions. You can assemble the plane by using the instructions provided along with the plane.

These planes are mostly made of tough foam with a plastic layer at the bottom of the plane to prevent the foam from getting damaged during landing or crashing. The RC transmitters will also have various controls such as switches to control the speed, flaps, rudder, aileron and other features of your model plane. It might also have adjustable frequency and special software for your model plane to correctly interpret your transmitter signals. Once you have assembled your model plane, then it is time for a test flight. You can call an experienced friend who has prior flying experience.

That would help you in avoiding costly mistakes and your model plane will be saved from the reduced crashing experience. You can take it to your garden or any other empty plot of land for your first flight. If the ground is smooth, you could take off from there or you can even take off with one person holding the plane and then leaving it gently. Once you get the hang of it, you can then proceed to do some stunts like flying loops, rolls and inverted flight. The joy of learning something new will keep your interest alive in this hobby.

Once you are well versed in flying battery operated model planes, then you can also graduate to gasoline-powered planes. These planes require additional parts such as fuel line filters, fuel tubing, field accessory packs, etc along with nitro airplane fuel and after run oil. Gas powered planes come in 2-stroke and 4-stroke form but the latter is costlier, while the former is cheaper, but noisier. These planes too can be controlled by remote control and their distinct motor sound gives flying a more realistic touch of being in the early 1900's as compared to an electric motor, which is silent.

So, whichever plane you fly, it is essential that you get familiar with the remote control to enable your model plane to obey your commands and keep crashes to a minimum. Over time you will be able to make your plane perform difficult and death defying stunts without any fear. So, take some action now. Get that RC model airplane and take to the skies with your feet planted firmly on the ground.
Rc Electric Model Airplanes
Electric RC model planes are fun and easy to fly and hence are most preferred to gas models. Electric batteries power these electric models. The batteries used in these planes are not the normal ones we get in the shops nearby. They are very special and have more power capacity than the normal ones. There are three main types of batteries, one can use for these model planes. These types are Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH), Nikel-cadmium (NiCAD), and the latest one, Lithium Poly cells.

If you are new to the world of electric RC planes, you should first have an overall knowledge about the models, which are suitable for you. Before you buy your model, you should consider various factors. Firstly, since there are many chances of your plane crashing, while training, you should always go for the ones, which can be repaired easily. So, it's important to buy a model with fewer parts, which can be fixed easily. You should also choose a plane, whose parts are easily available, so that you don't end up dumping your new plane in the garage, just because its parts are not available in the stores. Your plane should also be stable enough while in flight, to make it easy for you to control.

A very good example of such a plane is the Firebird. This plane is easy to fly, even when you don't have an instructor. It has a 40- inch wingspan and its fuselage is quite big. The model is also easy to assemble and will be airborne in few minutes after unpacking. If you have some experience in flying, then opt for the Fighterbird combat aircraft. This model has amazing maneuvers to keep you busy for hours and it's designed elegantly to enhance your pride of owning it. A very unique aspect of this model is its Sonic Combat Module, which is capable of zapping another Fighterbird combat aircraft with sound waves, and in the process disables the engine of the other plane for around 8 to 9 seconds.

The Cessna 182 RTF 4 CH Electric AirPlane park flyer and X-EC Diversion are some of the models that are suitable for beginners. Of course, they are many other models for beginners, but these ones are easy to fly and maintain. The models are equipped with the latest engines for easy controls. For example, the XEC-Diversion, which is made by Megatech, has a processor that makes controls easier to handle, especially with its auto-landing feature. The company has employed the space shuttle technology and it can withstand violent landing easily.

If you are an experienced flier, then you can go for the Capital Flyer, another ready to fly model from Megatech. This plane is made from very durable materials. It is still affordable and has a flying range of 300 feet. In the almost ready to fly category, Mini Piper is ideal for beginners, while Nikko Windjammer is good enough for experienced pilots.
