Reading Labels- How To Really Understand What You Put On Your Skin

    View:
One of the more recent changes is the addition of the word ?natural? to the labels. In truth how much of the products are natural ? and what does natural really mean.

The only way to determine what is in a product we buy is to read labels. But that is easier said than done ? if you have ever attempted to read your shampoo label, you'll know what I mean.

In theory the labels will tell us if we are buying an all natural product or something that is designed to appear natural. In specific context we want to understand the products we are placing on our skin. Especially when you think about how much we use - women tend to use beauty products such as anti wrinkle creams, cleansers, lotions, and many other skin related products. How can we understand what we are using just by reading the label?

Firstly when a product claims to be all natural we have to check what the first ingredient of this product is. Most natural products that are considered organic may not be. If the first ingredient is water, you should be able to check the percentage of water. Organic ingredients should not be mostly water. That is a cop out for creating a natural product. And don't forget water can be called different things?.

Natural products should contain plant extracts and fragrances rather than synthetic produced ingredients. Some synthetic products you may find on a label include dioxane, hydroquinione, ethylene dioxide, and other chemicals. These chemicals can actually damage your skin more than an all natural product.

Many individuals in today's society are starting to suffer from allergies. Allergies can be from the products we use, especially if a rash or other skin irritation occurs. These allergies are often from the harsh synthetic chemicals that are created for the products we use on our skin. Even the fragrances on these products are synthetically created. This means natural perfumes may not induce an allergic reaction, while the synthetic products can actually cause more of an allergic reaction.

This is why it is really important to understand the labels of the products you are buying. Another reason to understand the labels is that there are no miracle creams. While they may help reduce certain affects of aging they will not decrease the affects overnight. The best way to keep affects of aging under control is to have preventative measures. This means if you have always applied cream or lotion to your skin as well as keeping your skin clean during your life you will continue to look younger than your age. Exercising your body will also help keep your skin looking younger. In short just because a product seems to offer a miracle by the ingredients does not mean it is really true.

Labels are designed to help us choose the correct products for our skin, which makes you wonder why they are so hard to read and understand. The best products will include all natural ingredients with water being secondary. Natural ingredients will be in the form of extracts, such as coconut extract, lavender, and other natural extracts for the lotions you are using.

Warning labels are also important. Any product that has a warning label for the affects it may have on your skin should not be used. They are most likely going to contain synthetic chemicals rather than natural extracts. Some warning labels may state that the ingredients may provide an allergic reaction to the natural ingredients. In this case you should be aware of the allergies you have to natural products.

Reading labels for the products you buy is usually considered common sense due to the fact that we have all learned to be cautious. This is especially true of those who have sensitive skin. In order to read labels of skin products you do need to know about the chemical components. If you understand the chemical composition of the ingredients you will be able to read the product ingredients to understand if it is a product you wish to use. Chemical websites are often the best place to find out what the synthetic ingredients are.

Skin products are supposed to enhance our skin whether they are products in relation to dry skin or just to fit the aging affects of life. These skin products have synthetic chemicals or natural ingredients. Either way when you are using a product on your skin you want to know just what it contains and how harmful it can be for you. This means that you need to learn how to read labels on the skin care products as well as understand them. The best way to understand labels is to research the type of ingredients you are likely to find.
