I always used to think that the hiring of a skip was the reponsibilty of the supplier to look after once its been hired. In 3 months time it was the annual vegetable growing competition. I couldn't wait, I was so excited by this!



I had terrible luck last year. The very night before the comp, a fox came and nibbled on my radishes which had the potential to win it! The fox left the raid on the nearby road after realising he didn't like the taste of my prized radishes allowing passing cars to squash them into slush. This was the day before the big comp!

So this year I decided to start early, and create a disposable fence to keep out the ragamuffins, and them to unveil dramatically my hard work and beauty. I wanted to win so badly I decided it would make a better impression if I did all the work myself. So I went about finding a skip hire company. I needed a skip hire company to provide me with a builder's skip, so I could shovel my old soil out, and lay fresh, nutritious particles for my vegetables to flourish.

the skip hire company told me I would need to place the skip on the road, as my garden was small. This would require a permit and more costage, but it didn't bother me, the winning was all that mattered.

My skip soon got half full, I had been busy all day and all night to get my prized possessions looking like I wanted them to. I was so keen to get the work done, one night I forgot to place cones and lights around my skip to make road users aware of it. After all there was a huge skip in the middle of the road .

I awoke at 1.53AM to a huge bang; I thought a plane had fallen out of the sky. It was only a top of the range Audi, slam dunking into my skip outside! I rushed out to help, dialling the police en route. The driver was still alive! Praise the lord! The superb design of the Audi had kicked in with various gadgets, to save from exactly this kind of thing.

the driver had no major injuries. He was taken to hospital, just to be sure, and I returned to my bed. First thing next moring I rang the skip hire company. Apparently it was my fault completely, as I houdl have made sure I had placed the relevant safety feature sthey had provided, every night.

I didn't win the competition and was also left with a massive repair bill and the injured man was trying to claim conpensation. Just my luck eh?!
