Remedies For Puffy Eyes

    View:
Puffy eyes can be caused by a number of reasons; crying, lack of sleep, allergies, drinking, and swimming just to name a few. Just as there are a number of things that can cause puffy eyes, there are a number of remedies that can be found as well.

Okay girls before you read on i found the best thing for puffy eyes are these special pads enriched with vitamins and antioxidents that work wonders - from what I've seen they work the best. I've included in this paragraph links to find eye pads and also home remedy link sites as well. Don't forget to check out the video below either...

1. Lightly press a cold metal surface against the puffy part of your eyes for about 60 seconds this works best when using a using a metal spoon that has been soaked in ice water.

2. For a number of years hemorrhoid cream has been used to reduce swelling in the other various areas of the body. This same cream works wonders on the eyes as well, especially if is has the ingredients of yeast and shark's liver oil. Never apply directly onto the eyelid though or your puffy eyes will be the least of your troubles.

3. Eyes that are sore, tired and puffy can also be rejuvenated with thin cucumber slices kept fresh in cold water and placed over the closed eyes as a compress (yes I know it sounds pre-Madonna but even that's okay once in a while).

4. Tea is a great way to remove puffiness as well. Make sure two tea bags are thoroughly wetted with cold water and then place them on your eyes for about 10 minutes. You can press from the inner to the outer corner of the eye if you choose. Although tea with caffeine causes the blood vessels to constrict thereby reducing the swelling you can use any type of tea as teas are full of antioxidants.

5. Excess salt causes your body to hold fluids, so you need to stay away salty foods period - no good can come from them.

6. You can also elevate your shoulders and head which will assist in keeping the fluids from settling around your eyes thus helping to keep the swelling down.

7. Egg white and witch-hazel each help to reduce swelling, you can use the two together and create a mask to help reduce the swelling if you like. Take some egg whites and beat them until stiff, add a few drops of witch hazel to keep the egg whites from drying to quickly, use a brush and apply to the face and under the eyes. This is also a good way to tighten up your skin although I'm not sure the effects are permanent it is nice to do before going out with your friends.

8. Lack of fluid intake will also consequently cause your body to store excess water because it feels dehydrated. So make sure that you are drinking plenty of water everyday and even more if you go out drinking with your friends or running a marathon.

9. Remove contacts lenses before sleeping. Even lenses that are prescribed to wear 24/7 should be removed as they can cause irritation and make your eyes puffy - plus why do you need to wear them to sleep I've never heard of vision affecting your sight in your dreams.

10. When you first wake up, rinse your face with cold water to reduce as this constricts the blood vessels and lessens the swelling, it also helps to wake you when you are having a hard time getting up. This can be done throughout the day as needed also.
Remedies For Puffy Eyes
When you look yourself up at the mirror and find that your eyes look like they are carrying the weight of the world under them, your whole day will just not feel right anymore. Having puffy eyes is just not something that you are willing to wear to the office or school unless you are born with it. In a way, having puffy eyes is like having a big zit on your nose, only you can't pop the puffiness. Thus typically, you really do not have to lose your hair over your puffy eyes.

Although, they pose nothing more than cosmetic problems, there are severe cases where eye puffiness may require surgical adjustments. And in some other occasions, eye puffiness can be a symptom of some serious diseases such as those connected with thyroid glands or kidneys.

But for the most part, the puffiness is a result of your activities during the previous day; for example, if you ate a lot of salty food or you bent your head down for too long, there is a good chance that your eyes will be puffy the next day. Still, you can solve your eye puffiness within a few hours if you just know how. But before deciding to cover up your puffy eyes with sunglasses and concealer, you should fist try to reduce the bags on your eyes with some tried and tested remedies.

Light Massage

Eye puffiness is usually caused by excess fluids trapped in your eye area. By lightly massaging both your upper and lower eyelids, you shove all those excess fluids away from your eyes. This is actually a basic touch therapy that many people are not aware of, but dermatologists and other skin experts have used this technique to improve the appearance of their client's eyes.

Cold Splash

As mentioned, having puffy eyes can be nothing more than a problematic fluid circulation in your face. An easy and cool way to bring back your eyes to their normal appearance is to splash cold water directly on your eye area and the rest of your face. The cold temperature of the water is all you need to jumpstart the fluid circulation in your face.

Tea Bag Patch

Try using teabags. Two teabags moistened by cold water and patched on your puffy eyes for five to ten minutes can reinvigorate your eyes and hold off the puffiness. Again, the coldness of the teabags can help to increase circulation in your face. But more than that, tea has tannin that can also help in tightening the skin in your eye area; thereby, effectively decreasing the bulge in your eyes.

Take Medication

Sometimes, eye puffiness can be caused by factors other than fluid circulation in the face. For instance, if you are having your menstruation, your body may retain more fluids at the onset of your period; hence, our eyes may become puffy. If this is the case, take over-the-counter diuretic medications to help flush out excess fluids in your system.

If your eye puffiness is due to an allergic reaction, over-the-counter antihistamine medicines can help flatten the puffiness. Usually, you will know that the swelling around your eyes is caused by an allergic reaction if the puffiness is accompanied by itchiness and redness around your eye area.

These quick-fix measures can greatly help you in taking off the extra baggage around your eyes without you batting an eyelash. But just in case your eye puffiness is a little bit harder to deflate than you first thought, you can always apply makeup to cover the swelling. You can also treat your eyes with creams like Eyederma for a more lasting solution to eye puffiness. For more information, you can click on www.Eyederma.com
