People don't really mind the grout between tiles, I have noticed. The articles I have written before have stated every danger and hazard that can be found in the grout, but really, the space is just small. Many people just decide to procrastinate and leave cleaning to a day or so after. Or until the grout becomes so dirty a total grout replacement is in order.
Now, about the issue of regrouting. How is it done? What type of materials do you need? This article will assume that you intend to do it yourself and will answer these questions.
The first thing you need to do before planning to regrout is to make sure you do need to replace the existing ones. Discoloration may be apparent in a few of the grout, but that doesn't mean they're beyond hope. Surf around the internet for a few tips to clean dirty grout; there are quite a few of these online, and as I remember, I blogged about this same topic before.
Black, in general, is not a good color for grout. Check if the bathroom grout is black. If it is, it's hopelessly infested with black mold. Black algae in pools are very hard to remove, and replacing them can now be taken into serious consideration.
Removing grout involves the use of a tool called a grout saw. This works for most kitchen cases, but for big pools, use a power tool with a diamond blade to cut through it. Then, using a grout scraper, chisel off the remainder of the grout that the saw will not be able to cut. Clean out the area with a vinegar solution mixed with water, and finally vacuum the remaining pieces of grout.
To apply the new grout, simply follow the instructions with the grout, and you'll do great. Mop up the scattered and loosened grout which is all over the tiles with a moist cloth. Finito! You've just regrouted your tiles.
