When you have a foreclosure on your credit report it kills your score. You may have had scores in the high 750s which were almost perfect but now have a foreclosure. This is a serious problem because not only does it ruin your credit, it shows the lenders that you are not good at paying your bills or managing a budget. The next time that you go to apply for a loan for anything the lenders will frown upon the foreclosure and you will have a very tough time getting a line of credit.



Most people with foreclosures who want to get a line of credit anywhere are only considered a secured line of credit. This means that you will be required to put up some assets or something that is worth the amount of money you are asking for. This will ensure to the lender that they will have a possession they can repossess if you should default on the loan. A foreclosure on your credit shows that you are a high risk person and you are not trusted. There is nothing that you can do to get out of this.

A foreclosure on your credit report will remain on your report for up to 10 years. Technically, it is supposed to be 7 years but lenders always sell off bad debts and when a new person gets the debt 1 year before it is supposed to go off your credit then it could continue for another 7 years. Although it is not supposed to be this way, it is how it works.

The last thing anyone wants on their credit report is bank repossessed homes they couldn't pay on. If you do have a mortgage payment that you are about to foreclose on then you should do what you can to find an investor or someone who can help you get caught up and save your home. Remain in the home until you can sell it.
